Kensington Introduces World's Smallest USB Hub and New Mobile Keypad
May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Kensington Technology Group introduced today the latest in its long line of cutting-edge computer peripherals for mobile professionals. The Kensington PocketHUB, the world's smallest self-powered 4-port USB hub, and Pocket KeyPad, a new keypad accessory that includes a two-port USB hub, incorporate new design and style that will keep computer users connected and productive while on the road.
The PocketHUB, about the size of a match box (2" x 2.1" x 0.45" and 7 oz.), can connect up to four USB devices at once, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between peripherals on laptops without multiple USB ports. With the PocketHUB plug-n-play connectivity, any traveling professional can now quickly, easily and simultaneously use a printer, scanner, digital camera, and/or any other USB device, including a USB mouse and a USB adapter for connecting to a local area network. PocketHUB uses a short, 3.5-inch cord that eliminates clutter around the laptop, and a custom carrying pouch allows users to bundle the hub and its mini AC adapter together, minimizing storage hassles. As with other USB hubs, PocketHUB may be used without its AC adapter, depending on the requirements of the devices connected to it.
The Pocket KeyPad incorporates a two-port USB hub into a fully functional keypad, enabling fast-paced legal, sales and accounting professionals to easily crunch numbers while on the road. The slim, lightweight design, about half the size of a CD jewel case (4.8" x 2.8" x 0.6" and 7 oz.), has a standard 17-key layout and features a non-synching "number lock" key that allows the Pocket KeyPad and laptop to operate as separate units. The bus-powered hub allows simultaneous connection to two additional USB devices.
"We're really excited about the PocketHUB and Pocket KeyPad, because we think both products provide mobile professionals more freedom, productivity and connectivity with much less hassle," said Don Angel, Peripherals Business Director at Kensington. "We paid a lot of attention to detail, utility and style in designing both the PocketHUB and Pocket KeyPad, and we're very proud of the results."
The PocketHUB and Pocket KeyPad will each have an estimated retail price of $39.99, and they will be available beginning this month at most major computer retailers. Both are backed by a Kensington 5-year unlimited warranty.
