Handspring Offers Trade-Up Program for Treo Communicators

Treo 180 May 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Handspring today announced the "Trade up to Treo" program allowing owners of any existing Visor, Palm OS or even wireless email-enabled devices, such as a RIM wireless handheld, to receive a rebate for $100 off the purchase of Handspring's award-winning Treo 180 communicator. This promotion is available exclusively from Handspring's website at http://www.handspring.com/. All current Visor owners will receive the rebate instantly upon purchase of a new Treo communicator, while customers who own another handheld device will receive the same discount through a mail-in rebate form. A complete list of qualifying products can be found on Handspring's web site. The trade-up program begins Tuesday, May 7 and runs through Monday, June 3 and applies to Treo devices purchased either with or without service activation. "Early Handspring surveys are showing that customers are purchasing Treo to replace multiple devices, and we want to fuel that momentum even further by making this offer available to anyone who currently owns a handheld computer or wireless email-enabled device. Treo is easy to carry, easy to use, and now easier than ever to own for the people we know will appreciate it most -- current handheld users," said Karen Sipprell, vice president of corporate marketing at Handspring. "All handheld computing enthusiasts can now take advantage of our 'Trade up to Treo' program and become a Treo owner today."

Current Visor product owners will be prompted for their product serial number during checkout to receive an instant rebate whereas customers seeking to trade up non-Handspring products will be required to submit a proof-of-purchase via mail to receive their rebate check. Full program details are available at http://www.handspring.com/.

About Treo
Treo is a compact communicator that combines a GSM mobile phone, a Palm OS organizer, wireless email, SMS text messaging and Internet access in a small, lightweight and elegant device. Treo measures only 4.3" x 2.7" x 0.7" inches and weighs just 5.2 ounces, but its flip-open design makes possible a large screen suitable for web page viewing, text messaging and email using Handspring's Treo Mail application. With Treo Mail, users can access their corporate email and POP3 Internet accounts remotely while away from their desktop computer. SMS may require a separate data plan from a service provider or carrier and web browsing requires Internet access either through a carrier or an ISP, as well as a GSM wireless plan that includes data services. The steel blue Treo features a rocker switch for easy one-handed navigation and speakerphone capability. The Treo 180 features an integrated QWERTY keyboard and the Treo 180g offers a Graffiti writing area. Compatibility with next generation GPRS wireless data networks will be available later this year.
