Gateway PCs Accelerate the Pulse - and the ApplicationsFeb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Home and business customers eager to enjoy gaming, digital video editing and productivity applications to their fullest potential can now benefit from the latest Intel Pentium 4 processors in Gateway's award-winning line of desktop PCs. Gateway desktop PCs for consumers and businesses will be available with the new Intel processors that deliver faster processing speeds and larger cache sizes to result in improved performance, especially when running multiple tasks. Gateway will utilize the new Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading technology based on the 90 nanometer process and a 1MB level 2 cache on select Gateway 510 and Gateway 710 desktop PCs for home users immediately. Additionally, Gateway will integrate the new processor on select E-Series managed desktop PCs for corporations and institutions and Sb-Series desktop PCs for small businesses later this quarter. Gateway PCs will be offered with the new processor in speeds ranging from 2.8GHz to 3.2GHz. Additionally, Gateway plans to offer the 3.4GHz version of the processor in desktop PCs later this quarter, and other processor speeds later this year. Also as of today, Gateway includes the faster processing speed of the new Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.4GHz with HT technology and 512KB cache on several models in its powerful Gateway 710 line of PCs for home users, as well as on selected E-Series managed desktop PCs for corporations and institutions. Later in Q1, Gateway's high-end consumer systems for gamers and power users will get a boost when the new Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processor with HT technology is available. The newly upgraded PCs deliver performance increases when running more than one application, such as editing digital photos while downloading music or developing presentations while downloading database information. Giving the PC additional power and responsiveness, the processor also takes advantage of multi-threading capabilities built into new software, including Microsoft Windows XP. "Whether our customers are playing the latest game, downloading digital music or viewing digital video, they want a PC that delivers a pulse-quickening, in-your-face experience," said Mike Flanary, vice president of desktop PCs, Gateway, Inc.
