eMachines Introduces New PCs for Back to School
July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- eMachines, Inc., the second-leading vendor of desktop PCs sold through U.S. retailers, today announced that its new line of affordable PCs are now shipping. All products will be available by early July through major PC and electronics retail chains and are also available for purchase directly through the eMachines Web site at http://www.emachines.com.
Designed to lead the industry in value by offering full-featured systems at affordable prices, eMachines PCs span a range of needs -- from everyday computing to high-performance, multimedia systems -- and cover price points from $399 to $749 after mail-in rebates. Four of eMachines new systems include both CD-RW drives and Ethernet ports.

eMachines' Customer Care program includes one-year free parts, labor and technical support. Service options available from eMachines Customer Care program include an end-user replaceable parts program, five-day depot repair service, and authorized service centers at retailers throughout the country.
The latest product line also features BigFix software, now standard on all eMachines PCs, providing customers a proactive technical support system that ensures their systems' continuing maintenance and performance.
All eMachines PCs come pre-installed with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Microsoft Works, Microsoft Money 2002, Encarta Online and a 90-day trial of McAfee VirusScan 6.0 and 90-day free AOL 7.0 service.
Consistent with last quarter's products, eMachines continues its new "consumer-friendly" industrial design with its more upscale look and feel. Maintaining eMachines popular front panel slide-up door design, customers can easily access two USB ports, their PC serial number and technical support information. Other features include "Smart Stand-by" low power mode and dual optical bays.

- eMachines built the T1220 for customers looking for everyday computing at a value-focused price. The PC comes with an Intel Celeron 1.20 GHz processor, 128 MB SDRAM, 20-GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready fax/modem, a 48x CD-ROM drive, keyboard, mouse and speakers for $399 after $75 mail-in rebate.
- For customers interested in faster Internet connections and CD-RW capabilities, eMachines offers the T1440 at $499 after $75 mail-in rebate. The product comes with an Intel Celeron 1.40 GHz processor, 128 MB SDRAM, 40 GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready fax/modem, a 24x CD-RW drive, a built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, and keyboard, mouse and speakers.
- For higher performance computing, the eMachines T1860 comes with an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ processor, 256 MB DDR, 60 GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready fax/modem, a 32x CD-RW drive, and a built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet as well as keyboard, wheel mouse and amplified speakers. The system is priced at $599 after $75 mail-in rebate.
- Also priced at $599 after $75 mail-in rebate, the T1862 provides performance computing with the following features: an Intel Celeron 1.80-GHz processor, 256 MB DDR, 60 GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready fax/modem and a 24x CD-RW drive, a built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, USB 2.0 (6 USB ports), keyboard, wheel mouse and amplified speakers.
- For maximum performance and "extreme" multimedia capabilities, eMachines offers the T2080 with an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor, 512 MB DDR, 80 GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready fax/modem, 32x CD-RW and a 16x DVD drive, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, keyboard, wheel mouse and amplified speakers. The system is priced at $749 after mail-in rebate.

When purchased separate from a PC, eMachines monitors are eligible for a $100 mail-in rebate. The mail-in rebate is increased to $175 when combined with all systems except the T2080. All rebates are subject to terms and conditions specified by eMachines.
