eMachines Introduces New Design for Entire PC Line
'Consumer-Friendly' Chassis Offers Unique Convenience Features, Premium Look; Systems Priced From $399 to $699 April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- eMachines, Inc., the third-leading vendor of desktop PCs sold through U.S. retailers, today announced a new line of affordable yet powerful PCs featuring a new elegant design with "consumer-friendly" features. Prices start at $399 after manufacturer's rebate. The products are currently shipping with initial units available from retailers nationwide this weekend.
eMachines' newly designed PCs feature a more upscale look with an attractive "anthracite black" and "platinum silver" dual-toned chassis with beveled design that is replicated throughout its monitors, keyboard, mice and speakers. An enlarged power button with an eMachines "green halo" icon is highlighted on towers and monitors. Other new features throughout the entire PC line include:
The new PCs include a number of configurations for a variety of consumer needs starting with the T1140 ($399 after manufacturer's rebate) featuring the Intel Celeron 1.10 GHz processor, 128 MB of memory, 20 GB hard drive and 48x CD-ROM drive. The top-of-the-line T4170, ($699 after manufacturer's rebate) includes the Intel Pentium 4 1.60 processor, 256 MB DDR of memory, 60 GB hard drive, CD-RW drive and built-in Ethernet for broadband connectivity. "The premium look and feel of our new design, in addition to our quality components and excellent customer service, places us on par with any PCs currently on the market at a significantly lower price," said Wayne Inouye, president and CEO of eMachines based in Irvine, Calif. "Our new PCs have taken every consumer requirement into consideration, from the easy-to-carry configuration of the chassis to the dual optical bays to add a DVD or CD-RW drive." The products are backed by eMachines' comprehensive Customer Care program offering consumers one-year of free parts, service and technical support calls. "We are encouraging users to call us any time with questions by placing our tech support line and serial number on the front panel," said Mike Zimmerman, eMachines vice president of Customer Care. All four of the PCs come pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operating system and Microsoft Works, Microsoft Money 2002 and Encarta Online. eMachines' eView 17s monitor is priced at $219 while the eView 17f flat tube monitor is priced at $259. A total of $175 in manufacturer's rebates is available when consumers purchase an eMachines system with either monitor.
