EarthLink Launches Small Office DSL Service

Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EarthLink (NASDAQ:ELNK) today bolstered its slate of small business-focused high-speed services, launching a new SOHO-targeted ADSL service. Dubbed Small Office DSL, the new service includes more features and speed than typical consumer DSL services, at a lower cost than most business-class DSL services. The new service is available now in Atlanta, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C. Additional launches are planned for the first quarter of 2003.

EarthLink Small Office DSL fills the gap between standard consumer high- speed services, which lack the features and speed required by businesses, and business-class SDSL services, which can be expensive and include features that small businesses typically don't need. With a static-IP address and a four- port router, the new service was specifically developed with the SOHO business in mind.

"With our new Small Office DSL service, we're enabling smaller businesses, home-based businesses and telecommuters to get exactly the speed and features they require to be productive," said Erika Jolly, vice president of broadband marketing at Earthlink. For a limited time, EarthLink Small Office DSL is priced at $79.95 per month for the first six months and $89.95 thereafter, and for a limited time, includes a rebate offer for the $149 up-front hardware and activation fee. The service includes the following:

  • Downloads up to 1.5 Mbps
  • Uploads up to 384kbps -up to three times the speed of residential high speed
  • Hardware router with a four-port Ethernet Switch for connecting your small office to the Internet.
  • One static-IP address
  • Eight email accounts, 10MB Web site and Personal Start Pages
  • Twenty hours of dial-up roaming access per month
