Dell Introduces Redesigned UltraSharp Flat Panel Displays

June 24, 2003-Dell today unveiled two new UltraSharp flat panel displays incorporating advanced features for great performance and ease of use. Priced starting at $499, the new models are the first in Dell's redesigned line of displays.

The Dell UltraSharp 1703FP and UltraSharp 1901FP are 17- and 19-inch monitors with several new features, including a thin, 0.7-inch, bezel that frees up desk space; a height-adjustable stand (up to 5.1 inches) that allows users to set the monitor to their own comfort level; and an optional detachable sound bar that delivers 14 watts of total output. Four USB 2.0 ports - two on the side and two behind the display - give users convenient access points to plug in devices such as keyboards, digital cameras, secondary hard drives and printers.

The two new Dell UltraSharp monitors also provide more viewing options, with panels that swivel, tilt and pivot to support portrait and landscape orientations. Each monitor's panel is detachable for easy wall mounting through a quick-release, tool-less mechanism. These new flat panel displays offer both analog and digital inputs for attaching to a system.

The 1703FP and 1901FP feature distortion-free images due to 25 millisecond response times and rich, powerful colors with 600:1 contrast ratios. Vertical and horizontal viewing angles of 85 degrees enable a clear view of the screen from virtually any location around the display - an advantage for multiple users sharing the same display.

"Dell is offering customers industry-leading value by incorporating great performance in a sleek industrial design at a low price point," said Tim Mattox, vice president of client product marketing for Dell. "These products also continue Dell's efforts to provide environmentally sensitive solutions to our customers by offering flat panels that contain significantly less lead and use less energy than traditional CRT displays."

The 1703FP is currently being offered worldwide for $499 and the 1901FP will be available for $740, beginning in July. The Dell AS500 sound bar can be purchased separately for $39 and is compatible with both monitors.
