Dell Expands Printer Lineup
June 24, 2003-Dell today expanded its line of printers to meet the needs of a broad range of customers, from individuals to large corporations, with the introduction of three new products: Dell Workgroup Laser Printer M5200n, Dell Personal Inkjet Printer J740 and Dell Personal All-In-One Printer A920.
"Customers continue to tell us that purchasing printers and replacement ink and toner direct is easy and preferable," said Tim Peters, vice president and general manager of Dell Imaging & Printing. "The reception by customers to our entry into the printer market has exceeded our own expectations. Today we are announcing additional options for customers to make Dell their complete technology provider."
The Dell Workgroup Laser Printer M5200n, priced at $999, is Dell's most powerful monochrome networked laser printer. With speeds up to 35 pages per minute (ppm), it is well suited for high-volume print jobs generated by users in networked office environments. The M5200n also includes Dell's new printer management system, the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool, designed for easy installation, configuration and management of Dell network printers and toner cartridges. This web-based tool can be set up to provide automatic e-mail notifications of printer, toner and paper handling alerts.
The J740 and A920 are color inkjets for personal use. The J740 prints sharp text and high-resolution photos at speeds up to 18 ppm for standard text, and 14 ppm for color. The printer, which sells for $99, also delivers borderless photos in a variety of sizes - from 4x6 inches up to 8.5x11 inches. The A920 offers customers the convenience of a printer, scanner and copier in one easy-to-use, compact device and, at $89, meets everyday printing and imaging needs. Both printers include the Dell Ink Management System, which displays ink levels on the status window during every print job and proactively reminds users to order replacement cartridges.
The Dell Workgroup Laser Printer M5200n, Dell Personal Inkjet Printer J740 and Dell Personal All-In-One Printer A920 are now available in North America and will be offered in other regions later this year. All Dell printers come standard with Dell's industry-leading service and support. Extended service offerings also are available. Additionally, through the Dell | Recycling program, customers who purchase a Dell printer will receive recycling and pick-up of their old home or office printer, regardless of the manufacturer at no additional charge.
