Audiovox Enters Pocket PC Arena

Maestro October 5, 2001 - - Audiovox Communications Corporation (ACC), a subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX) and the U.S. leader in CDMA (code division multiple access) handsets, just introduced its first Pocket PC, the Maestro. This first in a series of feature-rich Audiovox Pocket PCs combines the ease of use and comprehensive functionality of Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC 2002 software with advanced wireless communications capabilities. The Audiovox unit is one of the smallest and lightest handheld devices to feature both 32 MB of SDRAM and 32 MB of Flash ROM, and an Intel Strong ARM 206 MHz processor. In addition, it features built-in CF card (compact flash memory card) and SD card (SD card or SDIO card) slots. When connected to an Audiovox CDM-9100 wireless phone, the Pocket PC provides complete Internet access without the need for an add-on modem or an additional wireless Internet Service Provider.

Audiovox is making a unique entrance into the Pocket PC market by selling its Pocket PC through wireless carriers. The handheld computing device will be offered co-packaged with an Audiovox CDM-9100 wireless handset, as a total mobile communications and pocket computing solution.

"We are breaking new ground," said Philip Christopher, president and CEO of Audiovox Communications Corp. "This is our first handheld computing device and by offering it for sale through wireless carriers, Audiovox further supports wireless data initiatives. Bundling it with our flagship phone, the CDM-9100, makes Internet connectivity practical and easy."

"The combination of Audiovox's wireless expertise and Pocket PC 2002 software is giving users more communication options and ways to access information than ever," said Ben Waldman, vice president of the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "With the Audiovox Pocket PC, users can enjoy handheld computing as it should be - lightweight, portable, and connected like never before."

In addition to being powerful and compact, the Audiovox Pocket PC boasts a reflected type color, thin film transistor (TFT) screen, a touch screen interface and a wide-array of installed software programs in a handsome silver and blue unit.
