America Online Introduces All New Version for Macintosh Users
August 2002 --The nation's largest Internet service provider today unveiled what America Online is calling its "best version for Apple Macintosh computers yet." The new AOL for Mac OS X is completely redesigned to look like a true Mac application and includes many new features, including some not yet in its PC counterpart.
AOL members on Macintosh computers won't have to look hard to find major changes in the new AOL for Mac OS X. The top of the screen beams with colorful new icons, the buttons glow, and translucent menus ensure that nothing important is buried on the screen.
America Online is the only major Internet service provider that offers a look-and-feel exclusively designed for Macs. AOL and Apple are a natural fit since both companies focus on the consumer, and are about making technology easy, accessible and most of all fun.
The new AOL for Mac OS X delivers many new features, including some not yet included on AOL's Windows version such as the ability to access saved web addresses from more than one computer. Members can now personalize their emails and instant messages with hundreds of pictures such as Harry Potter and other popular cartoon characters. And new icons indicate when a member is online but away from the computer, or available only on a mobile device such as a pager. Additionally, the new Welcome Screen offers one-click access to local breaking news and weather.
The new AOL for Mac OS X is available now as a free upgrade for existing U.S. members at AOL Keyword: Upgrade and at www.aol.com.
