Alienware Releases Service Pack 2 on All New Windows XP Systems

MIAMI, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Alienware, the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook, media center and professional systems, announced the availability of Windows XP Service Pack 2 on Alienware systems preloaded with Microsoft Windows XP Professional or XP Home Edition. Service Pack 2 introduces the latest innovations and advanced security technologies from Microsoft for an overall improved experience with Windows XP.

Service Pack 2 will be immediately available on all new Alienware systems shipping with Windows XP Pro or XP Home. Available at no additional cost to Alienware customers, everyone from consumers to IT professionals will benefit from a host of new features offered with Service Pack 2. Improvements include the latest security protections, increased ease of use for wireless networking and added Internet functionality.

Improved Windows firewall and Internet Explorer security enhancements provide Alienware systems with stronger security settings to help defend against viruses, hackers and worms. To provide greater manageability and control over PC security, new features include an attachment execution service within Outlook which determines e-mail attachment safety, as well as security updates and added functionality for music and video users with Windows Media Player 9 Series. The overall user experience is improved with a new wireless LAN client that allows easy connection and disconnection from wireless hotspots, while a Bluetooth update enables an easier connection to Bluetooth- enabled hardware devices such as keyboards, cell phones and PDAs.
