Addonics Announces USB 2.0 Host Controller For PCs Or Mac

July 23, 2001 – Addonics Technologies today announced a
USB 2.0 Host Controller, which allows PC or Macintosh users to add five
USB 2.0 ports through a PCI expansion slot to deliver 40 times faster
data transfer rates over current USB 1.1 standard storage devices.
The new USB 2.0 Host Controller provides users with a simple upgrade path to the high-speed 480 m/bits per second throughput of USB 2.0. The controller will work with all USB external storage devices such as DVD, CDRW or hard drives as well with all USB peripheral devices such as scanners, printers and digital cameras or camcorders. Users can connect up to 127 devices through the host controller. The Addonics USB 2.0 host controller is backward compatible with the USB 1.1 standard and will transfer data at the USB 1.1 speed of 12 Mbits/sec when used with USB 1.1 peripheral devices. Addonics offers a complete line of USB mobile peripherals, which includes Addonics Pocket DVD players, CD-ROM, hard drives, CDRW devices, and combination DVD/CDRW drives. Driver software is included for Windows 98SE, Me and 2000, and Mac OS X or greater. The USB 2.0 Host Controller has a list price of $59.
