Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 Launched
June 16, 2004 --Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in storage management software, announced the launch of Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0. The package includes the industry's only dual-mode disk partitioning capabilities for advanced and novice users, multiboot management, the ability to recover lost or deleted disk partitions and their data, the ability to edit disk drives at the sector level, and a unified, Windows XP-like user interface that places all capabilities of the product on a single screen.
"Acronis Disk Director 9.0 Suite is the most complete disk management and partitioning package available," said Max Tsypliaev, chief executive officer of Acronis. "It includes all the essential tools for managing and organizing a disk drive, as well as providing multiple ways of recovering data in case of a system failure or data loss.
"Dividing a hard disk into separate partitions for the operating system, programs and data provides better organization and, more importantly, much greater data integrity in the event of a drive failure," Tsypliaev continued. "It also makes it possible to run more than one operating environment on your computer."
"Competitive disk utilities are hard to use because they have a confusing user interface and require the user to make decisions that could put their data at risk," added Stephen Lawton, director of marketing for Acronis. "Acronis Disk Director Suite provides an automated mode with task-based wizards for partitioning disks that insulates the user completely from the technology, ensuring that users complete their tasks successfully, regardless of their technical knowledge or experience. Additionally, the expert user appreciates the array of options and flexibility available in the manual mode."
As part of this suite, Acronis is combining its fully functional disk partitioning software with its multiboot manager. "Users told us that they wanted the full scope of disk management tools in a single package, ranging from automated disk partitioning and partition recovery to multiboot functionality and the ability to edit disks at the sector level. We listened and now provide all those capabilities from a single, easy-to-use interface," he continued. "However, we view our products not only as superior technically, but also from a value perspective. The pricing for this full suite is the same as it was for just the disk partitioning software last year."
Exclusive Acronis technology allows the software to work on any Windows 95 or later or Linux partition, regardless of the file system. Acronis Disk Director Suite supports FAT 16, FAT 32, NTFS, Linux Ext 2, Ext 3, ReiserFS and Linux SWAP.
Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 has a suggested retail price of $49.99. Customers who purchased Acronis Partition Expert 2003, Acronis OS Selector 8.0, Acronis Recovery Expert or Acronis Disk Editor 6.0 on or after April May 15, 2004, may upgrade to the new version at no charge. The product is currently shipping.
