Visioneer 9650 USB Defines New Category of Office Productivity Scanners

Nov. 7, 2001--Visioneer, Inc., a leader in intelligent imaging solutions, today announced the new Visioneer 9650 USB office productivity scanner, the second-generation of Visioneer's award-winning Automatic Document Feed scanner product family. The new Visioneer 9650 USB is the company's first scanner to have a built-in automatic document feeder (ADF) that can process 12 pages per minute and offers business users a complete document imaging and archiving solution for only $599. Visioneer will be showing the new Visioneer 9650 USB at COMDEX in their booth no. L635. The Visioneer 9650 USB offers three key capabilities essential to effective productivity scanning: high speed with 12 page per minute throughput, a reliable automatic document feeder and a low purchase price.

"Visioneer has been very successful in anticipating the scanning needs of our customers and then exceeding them with models that are both affordable and highly functional," said Murray L. Dennis, CEO of Visioneer, Inc. "We believe many companies are looking for a cost-effective way to archive paper documents electronically. There are several 'departmental' scanners currently on the market that range in price from $1000-$5000 that scan 15 to 40 pages per minute. These are great scanners, but not exactly affordable for the general office or small workgroup user. The Visioneer 9650 USB is addressing a market that is severely underrepresented -- a productivity scanning solution that is also affordable."

"As companies realize the cost savings and efficiencies of turning paper documents into digital assets, this is one product with the right combination of speed and paper-handling capabilities designed to meet these needs," said Ron Tussy, president of Imerge Consulting Group. "Visioneer has always been an innovator in low-cost, market-leading imaging solutions. The Visioneer 9650 USB's combination of high-speed, easy paper-handling ADF and a price point, almost half that of competitive products will enable offices of all sizes to manage and archive their paper documents and turn them into corporate assets."

A New Category of Business Scanner
The Visioneer 9650 USB scanner features an optical resolution of 600x1200 dpi, true 42-bit color, and a built-in automatic document feeder that allows trouble-free scanning of up to 25 pages at a time. This compact ADF scanner has a small enough footprint to be used on any desktop allowing decentralized scanning with outstanding image quality and speed.

The Visioneer 9650 USB offers departments and workgroups uncompromising quality, reliability and flexibility. The scanner delivers clean color, grayscale and monochrome images attaining an efficient 12 pages per minute (ppm) in the 200 dpi document archiving mode. The scanner also has the ability to scan with a maximum output resolution of up to 1200dpi to capture fine details on graphics. The scanner's flatbed accommodates photos, books, or fragile items, while the automatic document feeder handles a wide variety of papers, ranging from small 3x5 cards to legal documents 14 inches in length.

Archiving Software Bundle
The software bundled with the scanner includes ScanSoft's PaperPort Deluxe 7.0 and ScanSoft's TextBridge Pro 9.0. With the award-winning PaperPort Deluxe 7.0 software, the Visioneer 9650 USB can be used to electronically archive documents in a single step from one easy-to-use screen.
