NEC Introduces Two New 15-Inch LCD Monitors

NEC MultiSync LCD 1550M and LCD 1550XNov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display today announced that it has extended the industry's premier line of thin-bezel flat panel monitors to appeal to the demands of the growing LCD market. Two new 15-inch flat panel monitors, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550M and LCD1550X join the 15-inch NEC MultiSync LCD1550V and 18-inch LCD1850X monitors to provide users with a complete selection of advanced features ranging from multimedia capabilities to digital input compatibility and wide-angle and portrait viewing. With the addition of the NEC MultiSync LCD1550M and LCD1550X, priced at $499 and $549 respectively, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display expands its premier line of thin-thin frame LCD monitors that both corporate and mainstream consumers can enjoy. With an ultra thin-frame measuring less than 20 mm on both sides of the monitor screen, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550M and LCD1550X provide near edge-to-edge viewing. Without a thick border surrounding the bezel, the new thin-frame LCD desktop displays save up to 12 percent more horizontal space than predeceasing monitors. The thin-frame desktop displays not only deliver a more unified image to single-monitor users, but can also be situated flush against other monitors for a more cohesive multiple image.

"Faced with an extensive choice of competitively priced flat panel monitors, corporate and mainstream consumers are taking advantage of the flat panel market's increasing popularity by becoming more selective in their LCD purchasing decisions," said Eric Haruki, Research Manager for International Data Corporation. "Flat panel monitor vendors that offer greater diversification through advanced capabilities and a functional design will expose themselves to greater market opportunities."

Additional Features for the NEC MultiSync LCD1550M and LCD1550X include:
  • Native resolutions of 1024 x 768
  • Weight of 9.9 lbs with the stand
  • Measures 6.4-inches and 7.9-inches with the stand for the LCD1550M and LCD1550X respectively
  • Wide range of on-screen controls that allow users to customize their viewing experiences
  • No Touch Auto Adjust provides optimal display settings upon initial power on
  • LiquidView(TM) software allows for large font/icon/tool and task bar sizes at native resolution for easier readability
  • Compatible with PC and Apple Macintosh computers to enable users to easily upgrade to a complete desktop solution.
  • High-bright backlight at 300 cd/m2 for the LCD1550M and 250 cd/m2 for the LCD1550X
  • Optional touch and protective glass integration

In addition, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550M offers internal multimedia capabilities and front-firing speakers for a more dynamic sound. The NEC MultiSync LCD1550X also delivers exclusive capabilities by utilizing NEC's Ambix(TM) technology for a standardized Digital Video Interface (DVI-I) connector to accept a digital or analog input, as well as a second analog input through a traditional VGA connector. With XtraView+(TM) Wide Viewing Angle technology, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550X enables users to enjoy an ultra- wide viewing angle of 170 degrees both horizontally and vertically, 85 degrees from the center of the monitor. Ideal for viewing spreadsheets, word processing and presentations, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550X pivots easily to allow users to work in either landscape or portrait modes.

"The new NEC MultiSync LCD1550M and LCD1550X monitors were designed to offer customers a wider range of high-end 15-inch LCD monitor capabilities - still at affordable prices," said Scott Hoaglund, product manager for NEC- Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. "NEC-Mitsubishi remains focused on leading the evolution of LCD monitors by incorporating the latest features and thin-frame designs, previously only available on notebook screens."
