Zenith Presents Broad Line of LCD Digital TV Monitors at CES 2001
Jan. 2001 -- Zenith Electronics Corporation is
planning a full line of ultra-slim liquid crystal display (LCD) digital
television monitors for 2001, including a 29-inch widescreen model, believed
to be the world's largest direct-view LCD HDTV monitor, demonstrated for the
first time at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Drawing on the display technology of its parent company, LG Electronics Inc., Zenith is announcing a broad LCD HDTV monitor line that includes 15.1-inch and 20-inch 4:3 displays, and 22-inch and 29-inch 16:9 widescreen displays. The 15.1-inch model is available now, with a full line planned for fall 2001.
The 15.1-inch 22W and 29W models are high-definition television (HDTV) monitors, while the 20-inch model is an EDTV (enhanced-definition television) monitor. All four models feature high-brightness, high-contrast display capability, integrated NTSC tuners and an array of jacks for simple connection of personal computers, HDTV set-top boxes, DVD players and other components.
The 15.1-inch and 20-inch LCD TV monitors are expected to sell for $1,999 and $4,299, respectively. The 22W widescreen LCD HDTV monitor is expected to sell for $4,699, while no pricing was announced for the 29W HDTV monitor. www.zenith.com.
