Zenith Launches New DVD Players, Digital Audio Devices and VCRs
Chief among Zenith's new DVD players are two progressive scan models, the single-tray DVB216 DVD Player and the DVB257 5-Disc Changer. Both feature MP3 decoding-as do all the DVD players-and component, progressive scan, and S-video outputs. The DVB257 also features DVD Audio. The players are expected to be available at suggested prices of $159.99 and $299.99, in April and August, respectively.
Like Zenith's other DVD players, both are fully compatible with DVDs, CDs and CD-R/CD-RW discs and share a slim new design with mirrored highlights. They also share, as do other new Zenith DVD players, digital audio outputs, 4x/16x movable zoom and variable high-speed scan.
The most unique model in Zenith's line-up is the XBV243 DVD/VCR Combo, which doubles as a DVD player with MP3 decoding capability and as a full- featured VCR that includes convenient front-panel A/V jacks. The combo will be available in April at a suggested price of $249.95.
New DVD players also include the DVB211, a single-tray model due in March at a suggested price of $129.95, and the DVB251 5-Disc Changer, due in August at a suggested price of $159.95. The DVP7771 Portable DVD Player with a 7-inch LCD screen, previewed last year, is available now at a suggested price of $899.95. In addition to Zenith's standard DVD player features, the portable includes a built-in speaker, a card-type remote control, a battery pack and AC adapter.
Zenith also introduces a new DVD Player in the DVT214 Home Theater System. The compact DVT214 is ideal for small to medium size rooms. It consists of a combination DVD/CD player and FM receiver, five small 50-watt speakers for left, center, right and surround channels and a powerful 100-watt subwoofer. A full digital solution, the system plays movies in Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro-Logic and DTS, and includes MP3 decoding. Set-up is exceptionally easy. It will be available in September at a suggested price of $349.95.
Zenith also introduces the MPH244 MP3 Decoder/Player, a small, extremely light, portable design featuring a 64MB built-in memory and an MMC card slot. Windows-compatible, it connects through a USB interface and is capable of four hours of voice recording as well as MP3 recording and playback. Complete with earphones and a backlit LCD display, the MPH244 is due in April at a suggested price of $229.95.
Zenith's new VCRs include the VRE4122, a four-head monaural VCR, and the VRE4222, a four-head hi-fi VCR. Both are anticipated in February at suggested prices of $69.95 and $74.95, respectively. Features include 19-micron heads, convenient front-panel A/V jacks, EZ Review and light silver styling.
