Zenith Announces New Widescreen Rear-Projection LCD HDTVs
The D60WLCD rear-projection HDTV monitor, previewed last fall to Zenith dealers and now ready to ship, is designed to display 16:9 and 4:3 high-definition images on a giant 60-inch screen ideal for home theaters and other home entertainment areas. Integrated with dual NTSC tuners, it accepts HDTV, SD and NTSC video sources. Three internal 1.2-inch LCD panels, augmented by a nine-element lens system, deliver superb 1280 x 720p resolution.
Image enhancing features include aspect ratio correction, an advanced 3D Y/C comb filter that digitally controls and separates color (chroma) and picture (luminance) information, a peak brightness of 680 candles/square meter, a contrast ratio of 200:1, generous 100 x 30-degree viewing angles, and picture-in-picture, picture-out-of picture and split-screen capabilities.
Audio features include Zenith's EZ Sound dynamic bass and two built-in 15-watt speakers, while the extensive 36-jack connection panel accommodates all popular video formats and includes front-panel video jacks and a 15-pin RGB input for a digital set-top box.
The D60WLCD weighs only 132 pounds and is less than 18 inches deep. It will be available in the first quarter 2002, at a suggested price under $7,000.
The D52WLCD rear-projection LCD HDTV monitor shares many features of the D60WLCD, adapted for a more accommodating 52-inch screen. Augmented by a nine-element lens system, three 0.96-inch LCD panels deliver superb 1280 x 720p progressive resolution, enhanced by 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio correction, an advanced 3D Y/C comb filter, a peak brightness of 680 candles/square meter, a 200:1 contrast ratio, 100 x 30-degree viewing angles, and picture-in-picture, picture-out-of-picture and split-screen capabilities.
Dual NTSC tuners ensure ease of use and the extensive 36-jack connection panel includes inputs for Component Video, S-Video and Composite Video, as well as front-panel video jacks and a 15-pin RGB input for a digital set-top box. Two built-in 15-watt speakers and Zenith's EZ Sound dynamic bass complete the experience. The D52WLCD will be available in the fourth quarter of 2002, at a suggested price below $6,000.
All Zenith's rear-projection sets can be readily paired with Zenith's progressive-scan or standard DVD players, its HDTV broadcast/satellite set-top receiver through component or RGB inputs, VCRs and other traditional video source components.
