SIRIUS Showcases New Products at 2004 Consumer Electronics Show

Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, SIRIUS Satellite Radio announced innovative new products and services for satellite radio, introduced new hardware partners, expanded its programming lineup and welcomed acclaimed artist and songwriter Steven Van Zandt to the SIRIUS programming team.

"The Consumer Electronics show is a pivotal event for SIRIUS, and we are thrilled to showcase what the future holds for us and to welcome new partners to the SIRIUS family," said Joseph P. Clayton, President and CEO, SIRIUS. "SIRIUS and satellite radio are the future of audio entertainment, and we will be providing CES attendees with a sample of what they can expect from the company heading into 2004."

Expanded Services: Video, Traffic Information and Surround Sound Technologies Showcased
SIRUS and Delphi Corp. today took the next step in the development of in- car mobile video transmissions over a satellite radio network. The new video platform, which was demonstrated today at a press conference and is being showcased in vehicles in Las Vegas during the week, should be available to car manufacturers within eighteen months. The video delivery capability utilizes SIRIUS' existing infrastructure. Through SIRIUS' three-satellite network, the company plans to offer multiple channels of video to complement its more than 100 streams of audio.

SIRIUS plans to offer real-time traffic information to subscribers beginning in early 2005. This new feature will be offered in a range of tiered service options and will be compatible with navigational systems used by automotive OEMs and aftermarket suppliers.

SIRIUS also introduced satellite radio's first surround sound capability with the launch of matrix surround broadcasts over SIRIUS' music streams. The SIRIUS-only technology is compatible with virtually all surround sound audio systems already on the market, including such names as Dolby, SRS and Logic 7, and does not require any additional hardware for consumers.
