Samsung Unveils 50-inch High Definition Integrated-Wireless Plasma TV

January 2004 - Samsung Electronics unveils its innovative addition to its Plasma TV line for 2004 at CES. Manufactured on Samsung's state-of-the-art 4th Generation plasma line, the HPP5091, a 50-inch Wide Screen HD Integrated-Wireless Plasma TV, won a CES 2004 Design and Engineering Innovations honors for its large size, great picture quality and innovative marriage with wireless technology. The HPP5091 will be on display at the Samsung booth, #11027 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center at CES in Las Vegas from January 8th - 11th.

"Aware of the ever-intensifying competition in the flat-panel market, Samsung aims to distinguish itself from the field with more innovative features and improved performance," said Jonas Tanenbaum, Senior Marketing Manager for Samsung Electronic America's Flat Panel Digital Display Products. "Our 4th Generation plasma TVs prove our commitment to incorporate new technologies into our plasma TV line and maintain our pioneering edge in flat panel TV performance with units such as the HPP5091 HD Integrated-Wireless Plasma TV."

Samsung is renowned for matching high quality with ease-of-use and the HPP5091 is no exception; a wireless (802.11.a) media box, with built-in NTSC and ATSC tuners, plus A/V, Component, DVI and HDMI connections, is a new, unique way to create a leading-edge home theater with added convenience. The wireless media box is flexible and easy to set up and has a range of 30 feet, enabling it to sit in any corner of the room.

Boasting a 50-inch screen (diagonal) with a one-piece brushed aluminum frame for an elegant look, the HPP5091 can pass for art and does not compromise picture quality. Its superior brightness (1,000 cd/m2) and contrast ratio (3000:1) ensure a robust and sharp image. The inclusion of Samsung's latest version of a proprietary digital processor, DNIe™ (Digital Natural Image engine), enhances contrast, detail, white tone and noise reduction. A premium speaker unit will bring the user an enhanced sound experience. SRS TruSurround XT technology is employed to process any multichannel audio source, which transforms the material into breathtaking virtual surround sound from just two speakers.

The full 4th Generation plasma TV line includes the 42-inch SPP4231, an ED monitor with 852 x 480 pixel resolution, a brightness of 1,000 cd/m2 and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. An additional 42-inch model, the SPP4251, includes SRS TruSurround XT technology and comes housed in a stunning new cabinet design with built-in speakers, while the HPN4239 provides a 42-inch, High Definition, 1,024 x 768 HD monitor.
