Samsung 24-inch Widescreen LCD TV Earns 2002 CES Innovation Award
January 9, 2002 – Samsung has earned a CES Innovations Award for Design and Engineering at the 2002 Consumer Electronics Show for its innovative 24” LTM245W LCD Panel Television. Crowned with the top honors in the Video product category, Samsung’s multi-talented 24” LCD TV wowed the judges with its extreme, all-in-one versatility as a full-featured, high-resolution TV, an HDTV monitor (1080i, 720p, 480p), a PC-compatible display, and a video monitor that allows direct hook up of a DVD player, VCR, camcorder or a video gaming device. Samsung’s 24” model is just one of a full line of ultra-slim, multimedia LCD TVs ranging in screen size from 15” to 40” – the world’s largest – that are hitting the home market in 2002. See the full award-winning, innovative line on exhibit at ICES 2002, January 8th to the 11th, in three locations: Samsung’s booth #657 in the Las Vegas Convention
Center (LVCC); the “Best of Innovations” Grand Lobby kiosk in the LVCC; and at the Las Vegas Hilton Pavilion.
John Lavoie, Marketing Manager, Visual Display Group, Samsung Electronics USA, Inc., notes, “The CES Innovation Award is always a great honor for Samsung. The company is dedicated to being first-to-market with innovative designs that maximize consumer benefit, and this top industry honor for our 24” LCD Panel TV is one more sign that we are on the right track.”
Samsung’s new LTM245W 24” widescreen (16:9) LCD Panel TV – among the largest TFT TVs in the consumer marketplace – is a true multimedia device that impressed CES judges with its breathtaking video performance in an ultra convenient space-savings design. Designed for the higher-end consumer home entertainment market, this true digital convergence device receives digital television signals with an optional set top receiver and offers additional inputs for any kind of DVD or video player or game device. As a powerful PC monitor, the LTM245W delivers high-end 1920x1200 native screen resolution.
The LTM245W offers high-definition resolution for great picture quality that is 1080i, 720p and 480p compatible. World-class performance comes thanks to 350 cd/m2 brightness and 500:1 contrast ratio. Fast switching pixel rates ensure smooth video playback even during fast moving scenes. The LTM245W consumes less power than traditional CRT-based televisions, an important consideration in today’s climate of energy shortages.
The 24” LCD TV incorporates Samsung’s powerful PIP dual-screen feature, which makes multi-tasking a breeze and gives users complete control over the screen images. TV watchers can work on their PC without missing a moment of favorite TV or DVD programming. With PIP you can keep your eye on breaking news reports while preparing spreadsheet reports, watch the big game while talking with your buddies by e-mail.
Samsung kicks off its LCD Panel TV line in Q1 2002 with the introduction of advanced 15” and 17” 4:3 models, the LTM1555 and the LTM1755. The full line will also include 16:9 widescreen LCD Panel TVs, perfect for Home Theater applications in 15”, 17”, 29” and 40” screen sizes.
Samsung’s award-winning LTM245W will be shipping in Q2 of 2002 for an MSRP of $6,999.99.
