Rocky Mountain Radar Blasts Radar Detection Beyond The Five Mile Limit

January 2004– Rocky Mountain Radar, a leading provider of radar detection equipment for personal automotive use, once again has catapulted radar detection technology to a new level of performance and sophistication with the unveiling of the new RMR-D550 radar detector. The device offers all the best features of its top products—instant 100% detection of ALL radar, total invisibility to “detector detectors”, multiple city/highway modes, and more—plus a new bilingual voice alert and amazing radar detection range in excess of five miles.

“With the debut of the RMR-D550, Rocky Mountain Radar once again defines a new generation of radar detection technology,” said Michael Churchman, Chief Executive Officer of Rocky Mountain Radar. “This unit is, without a doubt, the most advanced product on the market today. Not only does it offer maximum performance and a broad range of user controls, but it’s also the first major radar detection product to provide both Spanish and English voice alert options and 100% POP Radar detection. The RMR-D550 quite simply eclipses any other radar detector in the world.”

Total Detection, Total Invisibility
The new RMR-D550 corners the industry in virtually every category of performance, from radar detection to invisibility to user convenience features. Able to catch the most difficult types of radar—Instant-On and POP—using Rocky Mountain Radar’s exclusive Micro-Scan™ technology, as well as the notorious ‘Stalker’ KA-Band, the RMR-D550 instantly picks up X, K, Ka, Pulse, Photo, Pro-Laser, LTI, and Laser-Lite signals at a greater distance than ever before. The unit is also invisible to any “detector detector,” giving users 100% operational confidence.

Other unique Rocky Mountain Radar technologies include:

  • Smart-Scan, a feature that improves the likelihood of pre-emptive readings by frequently revisiting frequencies where recent “hits” occurred;
  • Adaptive Laser Tracking which automatically adjusts the unit to infrared background noise, thereby further reducing false alarms.

English/Spanish Voice
Intelli-Voice, another Rocky Mountain Radar exclusive, keeps the driver’s eyes on the road by announcing radar “hits” by kind of radar (a clear, audible voice calls out “K band,” “KA band,” “laser,” or other radar type).

Rocky Mountain Radar is the first major detector company to offer bilingual support—just press the button and Intelli-Voice switches to English, Spanish, voiceless audio tones, or mute.

Full Convenience
For added convenience, the RMR-D550 offers a signal strength indicator and digital readout that details the particular radar in use and a three-way detection mode (Hi-level, City 1 and City 2). The device communicates Safety Alert (SA) and Safety Warning System (SWS) signals as well as digital mode, dim, and on/off buttons.

Pricing, Availability
In addition to its technology leadership, Rocky Mountain Radar has emerged as a market leader as well. The company is the only radar detector manufacturer to experience net revenue growth for each of the last three years, a record unmatched in the industry.

Rocky Mountain Radar’s RMR-D550 maximum-range radar detector with bilingual voice readout is priced at $299.95 (MSRP) and will begin shipping in mid-November. The product can be seen at Rocky Mountain Radar’s CES Show 2004 exhibit, Booth 4238, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
