Pioneer Introduces New Line of Home Theater Systems

Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer Electronics today introduced five new home-theater systems, HTD-645DV, HTD-540DV, HTZ-940DV, HTZ-740DV, and HTP-240, for consumers seeking the best movie theater experience with abundant style. Advanced home theater requires exceptional picture quality, a well-engineered source unit and superb surround sound. Pioneer's home theater systems easily deliver on the source and sound, and the triad can be completed with a Pioneer PureVision plasma television.

"Home-theater-in-a-box entertainment systems are a significant portion of today's home entertainment industry, offering simple off-the-shelf solutions with all the technology needed for advanced home theater. Pioneer's goal is to push the envelope in developing products that suit the needs of movie and music enthusiasts. We bring as much of the advanced technology from our Pioneer Elite line of high-end audio and video products into the home theater in a box products, while maintaining ease-of-use for the customer," said Russ Johnston, vice president of marketing for the home entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "These new products not only sound the best, they are some of the most user friendly and configurable systems we have introduced thus far."

The home theater environment has been changing in form factor over the last several years, flat panel displays have been a strong driving force behind this transformation. With this year's line of products, Pioneer is able to meet the changing needs of consumers and their living environments offering something for everyone.

The Ultimate Plasma TV Accessories (HTZ-940DV, HTZ-740DV): As a growing number of consumers opt for flat panel plasma televisions, Pioneer is altering the form factor of its home theater systems to match. The HTZ-940DV offers a combination of stylish design, compact size and versatility that makes it the ideal companion to Pioneer's PureVision HD plasma televisions and the perfect solution for the modern living room.

The system features an entirely new speaker acoustic design concept with utilization of NXT SurfaceSound technology, based on Distributed Mode Loudspeaker technology. It offers 450-watts of power, a single disc, progressive scan DVD player with integrated receiver that can playback DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, Video CD, and .mp3 files. It also has a PhotoViewer for digital images. The system comes complete with four floor-standing, ultra-thin speakers with detachable satellites for wall mounting, a center channel speaker and a subwoofer.

The HTZ-740DV is another great home theater system designed for plasma displays, offering front-stage surround sound technology. This enables the consumer to use the front left and right speakers for both front and rear surround sound. The front speakers remain in the same location while still creating true 5.1 enveloping surround sound effects. This allows the consumer to either use a traditional speaker configuration or the front-stage surround sound, which eliminates the need to run speaker wire to the back of the room.

The HTZ-740DV includes 600-watts of power, a single disc progressive scan DVD player with integrated receiver that can playback DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, Video CD, .mp3 and WMA files. It also allows viewing of digital images with a PhotoViewer.

The HTZ-740DV also comes complete with two floor-standing, cylindrical speakers with detachable satellites, a center channel speaker and a super slim subwoofer that can be placed in a horizontal or vertical position.

The HTZ-940DV will be available in May and the HTZ-740DV will be available in June for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1400 and $800 respectively.

Easy Set-Up with Fewer Wires (HTD-645DV and HTD-540DV): The HTD-645DV and HTD-540DV are designed for easy set-up with a variety of options for both wireless and wired surround sound speakers.

The HTD-645DV offers a wireless configuration, the consumer sets up the front speakers as normal and the rear surround is created through a single wireless speaker that sits at the back of the room. A transponder that sits at the front of the room with the receiver sends information to the wireless speaker at the back of the room, encompassing the listening area with high quality audio for either surround sound or two-channel stereo. The 2.4 GHz transponder provides noiseless, non-compressed CD quality digital audio from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Both the HTD-645DV and the HTD-540DV offer an additional option for consumers who want to eliminate some of the wiring from their room, is Pioneer's front stage surround and front stage stereo modes, where the detachable satellite speakers can remain at the front of the room to reflect sound off the wall creating 5.1 surround sound or five channel stereo utilizing only the five speakers in the front of the room.

Finally, both systems can be set up with the detachable satellite speakers at the rear of the room in a traditional wired surround sound system.

The systems include 650 and 600 watts of power respectively, a five-disc DVD changer with DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD (SACD) playback as well as progressive scan circuitry for exceptional quality DVD-Video images. For fans of compressed audio, they also offer .mp3 playback and a PhotoViewer for viewing JPEG photos from CD. Both systems decode Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro-Logic II, and have a 96/24 digital to analog converter.

The HTD-645DV will be available in July and the HTD-540DV will be available in May for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $700 and $600 respectively.

Transform DVD into Home Theater (HTP-240): For those who already own a DVD player or DVD based gaming system, the HTP-240 component receiver and surround sound speaker package are the perfect additions to create a cutting edge home theater. This system accurately reproduces the audio from favorite movies, concerts, or video game competitions, immersing the listener in the fun.

The system's receiver, VSX-D414, offers Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro-Logic II, DTS decoding and a 192/24 DAC. It features Pioneer's five-channels of high quality, equal power amplification for 120-watts of amplifier power to all channels, eliminating the possibility of one channel dominating a particular sound field. All five amplifiers are of discrete configuration and utilize Pioneer's hybrid amplification system to ensure that the correct amount of bias signal is applied to each transistor for low distortion. It is designed to handle the full bandwidth of Dolby Digital and DTS encoded software and is DVD-Audio ready.

The HTP-240 will be available in April at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $450.
