New Palm-Sized DVR With Up to 20 Hours of StorageJan. 2004 /PRNewswire/ -- i-O Display Systems unveiled the first and only palm-sized DVR that records and plays high-resolution digital video -- the Riviera Digital Video Recorder. Making its debut at the 2004 International Consumer Electronics Show, the Riviera can store up to 20 hours of films or television shows as well as photo images, -- music, or any other digital data. Unique to the Riviera is a home docking station, making it as convenient to use at home as it is on the road. The recorded files are DVD compatible and the unit plays back MPEG1, MPEG2, MP3, VOB and JPEG file formats. "The Rivera takes digital recording technology to an entirely new level," commented Marty Holloway, President of i-O Display Systems, LLC. "Never before have we had the ability to record our favorite television shows and then slip the entire unit into our pocket to watch anywhere at a later time. The combination of the Riviera with IOD's optional high resolution, high performance Brillian-based i-glasses HRV head mounted display enables the ultimate in personal entertainment." Riviera is ready to grow into the future. It is based on a fully programmable media processor allowing the user to upgrade the software to support new file formats and add features such as dynamic video editing or special effects. The Riviera weighs approximately 8 ounces and has a storage capacity of 20 or 40 Gigabytes. It connects to a TV, DVD player, VCR or computer via USB 2.0 and supports RCA (Composite) or S-Video. The docking station connects to your home entertainment system, allowing easy access to recording your favorite shows and other content. An optional Head Mounted Display unit with the high performance Z86D-3 Brillian Microdisplay technology is also offered. Source: i-O Display Systems []Similar
