LG Unveils Digital HDTV Receivers and Recorders at 2004 CESJan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics, Inc. today introduced the world's first Blu-Ray recorder with built-in digital video recorder (DVR). Featuring the next-generation high-definition disc format, the LG Blu-Ray Recorder combines the new high-capacity recordable digital media format and a 200-gigabyte hard drive for unparalleled high-definition television (HDTV) recording flexibility. The Blu-Ray Recorder/DVR is part of a series of six advanced new digital LG HDTV receivers and recorders unveiled at the 2004 International Consumer Electronics Show, products that receive HDTV programming via terrestrial broadcasts, digital cable and satellite. Also on display in the LG Electronics booth (#8314, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) is a wide range of other new digital video/audio products, including DVD recorders, DVD-VCR combos and wireless surround sound home theater systems.
LEADING THE HDTV RECORDING TREND LG's other digital HDTV recorder is the LST-3410A, a combination HDTV receiver-DVR. The ideal solution for recording digital HDTV delivered over- the-air and on unscrambled digital cable channels (plus conventional analog NTSC signals), the LST-3410A features a 120 gigabyte hard drive -- making it capable of recording more than 12.5 hours of HDTV programming, 62.5 hours of standard-definition digital programming or 120 hours of analog programming. Easy to install, the LST-3410A offers enhanced connectivity to most devices, including HDTV displays and analog televisions, with a complete jack panel array including digital interfaces such as IEEE1394 and DVI + HDCP. It also features Time shift record, live pause, high-speed fast-forward and rewind, thumbnail browsing, synopsis mode replay, HD video navigation with the TV Guide On-Screen(R) interactive program guide, picture in grid feature and Dolby Digital(R) Surround Sound. MANY FLAVORS OF HDTV RECEIVERS Satellite/Terrestrial HDTV: The DirecTV(R) Receiver/HDTV Tuner supports all DirecTV, ATSC and NTSC formats. Key features of model LSS-3200A include a seven-day DirecTV Advanced Program guide, simultaneous HD and SD analog outputs, Dolby Digital(R) audio, an RS-232 serial port, an IR/RF (infrared/radio frequency) remote control for multi-room use, and a Digital Video Interface. Digital Cable HDTV: LG's OpenCable Receiver is a CableCARD ready set-top box that is built around a high-performance 256/64 QAM tuner, and out-of-band tuner. Features include onscreen navigation, simultaneous 1080i and 480p outputs and super connectivity with DVI + HDCP, RGB, S-Video and AV outputs. Terrestrial HDTV: LG's LST-3510A HDTV Receiver/High-Format DVD Player features an all-format ATSC receiver for over-the-air HD reception, a QAM tuner for unscrambled HDTV cable reception, plus a built-in DVD player with 1080i output, Enhanced Scaler, Dolby Digital sound, a DVI + HDCP connector, a PSIP-based Electronic Program Guide, and an RS-232 serial port. The company's stand-alone terrestrial HDTV receiver is the LST-3100A, equipped with an all-format ATSC receiver for over-the-air HD reception and a QAM tuner for unscrambled HDTV cable reception. Additional features include a user-friendly graphical user interface, Dolby Digital sound, and a DVI + HDCP output.
MUST SEE TV: OTHER DIGITAL DEVICES Users can record material in DVD, DVD-VR and VHS formats. On playback, the deck is also fully compatible with DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW and MP3 formats. Additional features include 19-head micron technology for the VCR, timer recording, front-panel AV inputs, and Dolby Digital sound. The LGDVDR313 DVD Recorder comes equipped with a DVD recorder, a DVD/CD player, and an NTSC tuner. Users can record in DVD and DVD-VR formats, and play back material in DVD, CD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW and MP3 formats. Additional features include compatibility with DVD players and PCs, timer recording, a variable recoding mode, and Dolby Digital sound. Model LGHDR414 is LG's multi-format DVD recorder with built-in DVR, adding an 80 gigabyte hard drive. Like its counterpart, it offers enhanced connectivity and high-speed dubbing. Home theater audio systems are highlighted by LG model LGHTW316, a 2.4 GHz wireless 5.1-channel speaker system with surround sound wireless rear speakers, operating at 2.4Ghz with 350 total watts, and a 50W x 5 + 100W sub woofer.
