JENSEN to Introduce Portable Satellite Radio Boom Box in Late ‘02

January 7, 2002 --Proving that Sirius Satellite Radio is truly a mobile, rather than strictly a "car" technology, JENSEN today announced that it will introduce a portable, Sirius-enabled "boom box " radio later this year. Though final specifications have yet to be determined, Dale DiBernardo, Senior Program Manager, Recoton Mobile Electronics, noted that JENSEN's upcoming Model SRB2003 boom box will be a full featured, stereo system.

"Satellite radio is the most highly anticipated consumer electronics product introduction since the DVD player, and its appeal extends far beyond the automotive environment," said DiBernardo. "When end-users become accustomed to receiving 100 channels of their favorite entertainment in full digital audio, they will start to look for Sirius systems in portable equipment they can enjoy at home, parties, work, and more. "We decided to take an aggressive approach by planning ahead for a boom box that delivers great sound no matter where it's taken, and with a price tag that belies its feature set."

Scheduled to appear on retailers' shelves in time for the 2002 holiday selling season, the SRB2003 boom box (SRP: TBD) will incorporate the Sirius chip set and antenna, along with an AM/FM tuner and a CD section that will play MP3 files, CD-R's, and conventional discs.

Added DiBernardo: "The SRB2003 will be part of JENSEN's second phase of Sirius products, following the automotive and marine products being featured here at CES. If end-user and retailer reactions are as strong as we expect, I'm sure you'll see many more Sirius-enabled JENSEN products in the near future."
