Denon Selects Realta HQV Video Processing Chip for New DVD Player

January 2005- Silicon Optix is pleased to announce that Denon has selected its Realta chip with Hollywood Quality Video (HQVÔ) technology for its flagship DVD Player and will officially launch the DVD-5910 at the 2005 International CES Show, in Las Vegas, January 6-9, 2005.

Winner of the 2005 Best of CES Innovations award, the Realta HQV chip originates from Teranex’s $60,000 broadcast and post-production platforms. Teranex’s software algorithms run on Realta’s fully-programmable, trillion operations per second video processing engine to deliver a new standard in image quality, a standard Silicon Optix is calling ‘Hollywood Quality Video’, or HQV.

“For our flagship DVD player, we demanded the finest video processing. To determine who had the best technology available, we did side-by-side comparisons. We determined hands-down that the incredible picture quality that the Realta HQV chip delivers would be the perfect solution for our player,”said Jeff Talmadge, Marketing Manager for Denon USA.

HQV represents the world’s highest quality de-interlacing, pixel-based noise reduction, automatic per pixel film/video cadence detection and detail enhancement.

“We believe that no other technology currently available in the marketplace comes close to HQV in terms of image quality, when converting standard DVD video and film to high definition,“said Talmadge from Denon. The Denon DVD-5910 features the ’HQV Powered by Teranex‘ logo so that customers know that they are getting the world’s very best video processing, in the world's best DVD Player

The DVD-5910 will have a suggested retail price of $3,500 (USD) and will be available first quarter of 2005. For more information on Denon, please visit: www.usa.denon.com.
