Toshiba Showcases Integrated HD Television Line at CEDIA 2004
Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C., showcased today its full line of integrated Cinema Series HD and TheaterWide HD television sets at the CEDIA Show. Toshiba's integrated HDTV line includes new DLP sets and the first CableCARD enabled models for cable connectivity. Toshiba's integrated CRT based televisions are now shipping via retailers nationwide and the integrated DLP models will finish rolling out this fall.
All integrated HDTV models feature the Toshiba Seine Processor. Seine provides the processing power necessary to create the Toshiba quality picture and feature set that make Toshiba a top player in the projection television market.
Toshiba integrated HD models are loaded with features to allow a transition into HDTV. Toshiba sets come equipped with ATSC/QAM tuning, which enable the sets to receive both digital terrestrial and digital cable broadcasts. All integrated sets also offer a CableCARD (formerly POD) slot for digital cable compatibility.
To further increase user functionality, Toshiba integrated HDTVs also include TV Guide On Screen, an interactive program guide, for simple, user- friendly channel navigation. This guide is key for new TVs with Plug & Play Digital Cable capability, as the new digital cable system does not provide a guide. All integrated sets also feature two IEEE1394 ports with industry standard DTVLink capability, necessary for digital networking and recording. These models also feature the TheaterNet IR/1394 control system for analog and digital external device control, and an OmniViewer Memory Card Slot (Now 5 Types - Secure Digital 'SD', Smart Media 'SM', Memory Stick 'MS', Compact Flash 'CF' & MultiMedia 'MMC') with JPEG viewer for viewing of digital photos.
Toshiba also showcased its new Symbio A/V Hard Drive Recorder (160HD4). Symbio is an external 160GB hard drive that works with the control functions in all 2004 Toshiba integrated HDTV models. There is a one-wire connection, utilizing the TV's IEEE1394 port. Symbio utilizes the TV Guide On Screen system in the TV to allow for one touch recording of both standard and high definition TV content. The TV also has controls for pausing and rewinding live TV allowing viewing flexibility.
"The market is now moving to integrated and Toshiba is creating models that help make an easy transition for our consumers," said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba's Vice President of Marketing. "Our Digital Premium Package, with TV Guide On Screen and IEEE1394, ensures that our consumers will know what's on, and will have the ability to record it. Our new Symbio A/V Hard Drive Recorder provides the perfect way to time shift HD."
