Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
This new game completely justifies the use of the next generation system. The action-packed fighting game features aspects that would be impossible to achieve on archaic gaming devices. The detailed environment reacts to grenade blasts; the computer-controlled players move with seeming intelligence and alter their strategy based on the human players’ movements. The vast array of weapon choices offers choices as to how you will take down the bad guys, ranging from the long-range sniper rifles to the exploding projectiles shot from the grenade launcher. The game’s campaign mode puts you in control of a U.S. soldier with state-of-the-art technology and allows you to command three other fighters and, at times, drones and tanks. There is nothing especially unique about the campaign mode, but it is very entertaining and follows a coherent plotline. One of the true virtues of the game, however, is its multiplayer mode. Thanks to its multiplayer mode, Advanced Warfighter has truly become Xbox 360’s Halo, by which I mean that it can entertain for hours at a time and is an immediate draw for anyone considering purchasing the new system. The game’s multiplayer preferences offer a seemingly infinite variety of options, including a co-op sort of campaign to a one-on-thirty rout against enemies in fantastic terrain. The multiplayer capabilities give this game a longer life than the solo missions ever could. Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is available on a variety of systems, including Xbox 360, Xbox, Playstation 2, and PC. The game costs roughly $60 and more information is available at www.ubi.com. []Similar |
