Visit Mesa Verde National Park and Save!

Mesa Verde National ParkAs a historical wonder and one of the most well preserved archeological sites in the world, Mesa Verde National Park has been marveling visitors to its World Cultural Heritage Site and the first national park ever set aside solely to preserve the works of man for more than 100 years.

To prepare for another season at the park and entice travelers to visit Mesa Verde in 2008, ARAMARK, the official concessioner of the park, is offering the “Rails to Trails” package that provides visitors a taste of everything Mesa Verde has to offer, and a taste of the local culture in quaint Durango, Colorado, just an hour away from the park. For just $599 per couple, a savings of more than 20 percent, the package includes a one-night stay, including breakfast for two, in historic Durango at the top-ranked Hampton Inn; two seats on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad for a scenic trip to Mesa Verde; two nights inside Mesa Verde National Park at the Far View Lodge, including continental breakfast each morning; and a half day ranger-guided tour of Mesa Verde’s cliff dwellings and archeological sites.

Together, Mesa Verde and Durango offer not just stunning natural scenery and fun outdoor activities, but also Western culture, Native American art and the wondrous cliff dwellings of the Anasazi. The combination makes for a perfect slice of the Four Corners region.

Durango’s airport is serviced by a number of major airlines making it easily accessible via gateway cities such as Denver and Phoenix. Because the city is just 50 miles from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park (www.visitmesaverde.com), it’s easy to combine a trip to both places in a weekend destination.
