The Hermitage Hotel Receives Mobil Five Star Award
The Hermitage was one of only six new additions to the prestigious list for 2007, which contains 37 hotels, inns and resorts throughout North America. The hotel has become the lodging choice of many of the entertainment industry’s biggest names, especially during the recent CMA awards. “Our ability to achieve the Mobil Five Star rating is a direct result of committed ownership, focused management, and the tireless efforts of our staff members, who provide a genuinely caring and comforting refuge for our guests,” said The Hermitage Hotel Managing Director Greg Sligh. “This award confirms that it is possible, and even desirable, to combine superior service, modern amenities, and truly gracious southern hospitality.” The Hermitage Hotel also becomes a member of an even more elite list of 27 North American properties that hold both the Mobil Five Star and the separate Five Diamond rating awarded by the American Automobile Association (AAA). The Hermitage has held the AAA Five Diamond rating for four years, and has retained the award for 2007. “The Mobil Five Star award is affirmation that The Hermitage Hotel’s potential has not only been realized, but one of the world’s finest properties now calls Nashville home,” said The Hermitage Hotel Owner Bill Goodwin. “I am immensely proud of the hotel’s team, without whom, none of these accolades would be possible.” The Hermitage opened in 1910 after being commissioned by 250 Nashville residents, and underwent a $20 million restoration project in 2002 before reopening on Valentine’s Day 2003. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the only remaining grand hotel in Nashville. It is a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and Historic Hotels of America. Featuring 122 rooms and suites, The Hermitage joins its sister property The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA, in achieving the Five Star rating for 2007. “This award is much deserved good news for the hotel and for Nashville, further adding to the luster of our hospitality community and our reputation as a leading destination city,” said Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell. There are no Mobil Five Star AAA Five Diamond-rated hotels in five of Tennessee’s contiguous states – Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri and Arkansas – or the nearby states of Indiana, Iowa and Kansas. The closest city to Nashville with a Mobil Five Star or AAA Five Diamond rated hotel is Atlanta. Mobil has been evaluating dining and lodging establishments across North America for over 40 years. Since its inception in 1958, the Mobil Travel Guide has used an objective set of criteria, unique among leading travel books, that sets national standards yet allows for regional and individual preferences. A carefully selected team of hospitality experts anonymously evaluates the establishments listed in the Guide. Properties must offer a level of experience appropriate to the cost, based on the quality of such items as décor, comfort, amenities, and services.
