Located in Midtown South Manhattan, between New York City’s Gramercy Park and Murray Hill neighborhoods, within walking distance of Manhattan’s business, shopping and entertainment districts, the new meeting rooms at the Carlton are well-suited for lectures, meetings, and corporate presentations. The meeting rooms range in size, with the smallest measuring 320 sq.ft. and largest 2,050 sq.ft. square feet, accommodating up to 175 persons. Designed by noted architect David Rockwell, the meeting rooms can accommodate any set-up from classroom to roundtable.

The new meeting rooms are a departure from the typical hotel meeting facility in that each room is designed to appeal to various industries. From light and airy rooms featuring handcrafted accents and unique sconces to the juxtaposition of the rich history of New York and modern touches, the meeting rooms offer something for everyone. For the image-conscious executive, the hotel offers the boardroom with a twist – whimsical lampshades add a bit of warmth and flair against a backdrop of rich wood paneling and over- sized windows that look out onto Madison Avenue. For the entertainment market, the Gramercy and Flatiron rooms celebrate the musical geniuses of Billie Holiday and Count Basie with candid black and white photos adorning the mahogany walls. Advertising and fashion attendees will enjoy bright and airy meeting rooms that feature pastel colors and attention to detail such as delicate wall sconces, whitewashed louver doors that cover floor to ceiling windows, hand-stenciled walls and bright carpeting. Breakout rooms are an extension of the main meeting rooms and provide additional space for refreshments. For larger groups, a ballroom on the lower level offers complete privacy along with its own separate entrance, elevator bank and restrooms. The ballroom is beautifully appointed with decorative mirrors, warm wall coverings and carpeting. Plush button cushioned seating provides comfort and support for social and corporate events and meetings.

In addition to providing an environment in which to create and be productive, the designers took into consideration the well being of attendees when selecting furnishings. Ergonomic seating is available in all meeting rooms. “Our goal in providing meeting and social facilities is to promote productivity. We set out to create an environment in which ideas could be born and tasks accomplished. I think we have attained these goals and more,” said Edmund Sulzman, general manager of The Carlton on Madison Avenue.

To inaugurate the new meeting rooms, the Carlton is offering incentives for meeting planner of either a $50 gift certificate to Country Restaurant or signed copy of celebrity Chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s new book Town/Country when they book groups of 14 or more that includes breakfast and/or lunch.
