New “Liverpool with the Beatles” Tour

The Cavern ClubWhere was John Lennon born? Where did Paul McCartney grow up? Where did George Harrison live? Where did Ringo Starr practice playing his drums? Beatles fans wanting to discover first-hand the world of the legendary band can now treat themselves to the “Liverpool With the Beatles” tour, courtesy of Club ABC Tours. Starting at $1,399 per person, the 8-day hosted tour takes visitors on a guided, magical mystery trip to all the celebrated Beatles stomping grounds throughout London and Liverpool. An “Early Bird Discount” of $100 per person is offered on all bookings received up to May 15.

The tour package includes round-trip airfare from New York, four- star hotel accommodations for six nights, hotel taxes and service charges, and round-trip rail transportation between London and Liverpool. Full English breakfast daily, and round-trip airport transfers in England are also included. Prices are per person, double occupancy and vary by departure date. Because of limited availability, early reservations are recommended.

Here, There and Everywhere
The London portion of “Liverpool With the Beatles” is based on the “Magical Mystery Tour” developed and hosted by Beatles expert Richard Porter. Porter has been guiding generations of Beatles fans in London for over 15 years and is considered the ultimate “resource” on the band. He is the author of The Official Abbey Road Café Guide to the Beatles London, now in its second edition, and is a regular contributor to various magazines and websites covering the band.

In addition to lunch at the Hard Rock Café London, highlights of the London stay include a visit to the “Apple Offices” in Mayfair, where the band played their famous rooftop sessions, and to the celebrated Abbey Road Studios, home to many of the band’s timeless hit songs. Participants also retrace the footsteps of the Fab Four along the famous Abbey Road crossing, the intersection that launched a thousand “Paul is dead” theories and inspired generations of musicians around the world. There’s also a full free day in London for independent sightseeing, shopping or excursions into the countryside.

Strawberry Fields Forever
From London, the tour continues to Liverpool, the birthplace of the band, with three days to enjoy the remarkable city, designated the European Capital of Culture for 2008. Beatles guide and expert Jackie Spencer takes participants to the renowned Cavern Club, Penny Lane and, of course, Strawberry Field, among several other historic Beatles sites. A visit to the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney is also included. Both homes, now designated “National Trust” properties, have been restored as close as possible to their original state to truly evoke the mood and atmosphere of the 1950s when the Beatles were growing up in Liverpool. Visitors will have a chance to explore the city independently, as well, and see some of its famous museums and galleries.

“This tour is an experience of a lifetime for Beatle fans of all ages,” remarked Tom Paris, co-president, Club ABC Tours. “It offers great insights into the people and places that most influenced the band in their early years.”
