Experience a Wild Winter Adventure in Kentucky

Ranger in Mammoth CaveThere are two types of winter travelers; those who seek an adventure in the snow, and those who flee the bitter winds for the warmth of a tropical sun. But in Kentucky there is a third group of winter adventurers who prefer a perfectly constant 54 degrees, free-climbing cave walls, scrambling through areas as tight as 9 inches high; walking crouched through hidden tunnels; hand and knee crawls over jagged rocks and dirt; belly crawling through wet areas and twisting into and out of tight crawlway openings.

If this sounds like your definition of fun, this winter, experience the Wild Cave Tour at Mammoth Cave National Park. The Wild Cave Tour covers over 5 miles with an elevation change of 300 feet and takes between 6 to 7 hours to complete. Chest or hip measurement should not be more than 42 inches and participants must be at least 16 years of age. Tours run every weekend from September through May and daily from June through August. The tour cost is $48 for adults and $24 for seniors. www.kentuckytourism.com
