Divine Treatment for Golfers at Diving Nine Courses

Golf CourseWhat has 172 holes is over 65,000 yards long and has 621 rooms? It’s the Divine Nine, the Carson City/Valley co-op group of nine area golf courses and five lodging properties that make a golf excursion to Nevada’s capital city area convenient, fun and affordable. Golfers will find a world of diversity with exceptional valley and desert layouts, challenge and personality.

Noted designers, architects and professional golfers are affiliated with the courses including Arnold Palmer at Dayton Valley Country Club, Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III at Genoa Lakes Golf Club, and Johnny Miller and John Harbottle at Genoa Lakes Resort (formerly Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch). There’s both high desert and open valley golf with meandering rivers and creeks, sage-brush lined fairways, elevation changes, generous fairways – and tight ones, too, along with the spectacular natural beauty of the area.

Visitors also have lodging choices that include a luxurious B&B, casino/hotels or motor lodges with plenty of that famous 24-hour Nevada lifestyle nearby. And with all nine courses within 35 minutes, players can spend their time on the links instead of a car.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new at Divine Nine courses:

Carson Valley Golf Course is offering a Summer Golf Ticket with two options: 10 rounds of golf for $359 or 15 rounds for $499. The tickets can be used any day, any time, by anybody. This is a great way to reward customers, employees, family and friends.

There’s also a $10 Family Golf offer after 4pm daily, seven days a week. Players can play until the sun goes down for just $10, including cart. There must be one junior, 17 and under to take advantage.

A new ladies club has been started to attract a vibrant, energetic group of women to enjoy the game and make new friends.

Dayton Valley Golf Club at Legado opened its new $6 million, 15,000 square-foot clubhouse on April 1. The expansive complex becomes the new centerpiece for the renowned 1991-Arnold Palmer-designed championship golf course that opened in 1991. Dayton is annually recognized as one of the premier courses in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. Open to the public, The Clubhouse features a new restaurant, large bar and grill area, outdoor patio and plaza, special banquet rooms, new full service golf shop, locker rooms, lobby and offices. Construction has also begun on an additional 18-hole course on the property. Designed by Earl Kemp, the new course will maintain the same standard for superb course conditions and maintenance that have been a hallmark of the Dayton Valley golf experience.

Eagle Valley boasts two courses, East and West, and offers the lowest greens fees of all the Divine Nine courses. The East is a reasonably flat, wide-open layout, providing an opportunity for pars and birdies for beginning and intermediate golfers. It's an excellent walking course as well. The West winds along the base of the foothills and the fairways are lined with natural high-desert vegetation, making for some magnificent views. Target golf and fast greens are the trademarks here.

Empire Ranch Golf Course has appointed Keith Stoll as new Head Golf Professional. Formerly with Sundridge Golf Course, Stoll brings 15 years of golf experience in the Carson area. Empire Ranch is the only course in the region with 27 golf holes. New white sand has replaced the red bunker in all 75 bunkers along with various maintenance upgrades throughout the course. The clubhouse has had some remodeling and upgrades, including new carpet, displays, and an increased inventory. The Fred and Judy Alexander Junior Golf Clinic returns June 11 with a clinic for 900 juniors and instruction by 40 PGA golf professionals from the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the PGA.

Genoa Lakes Golf Club has two championship courses, the Lakes Course and the Resort Course.

The Resort Course (formerly Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch) is constructing 6 new holes, which will be ready for play in 2007. A major clubhouse remodel was also completed with new golf shop, restaurant and events area. Both courses also feature Vision Perfect Scoring Packages, which keep instantaneous tournament scoring hole-by-hole so players know exactly where they stand.

Silver Oak Golf Club completed its new two-story, 14,000 square-foot clubhouse overlooking the 18th green, complete with dining area, bar, banquet room, locker rooms and golf shop. The ninth green was redesigned with an adjacent pond relocated.

Sunridge Golf Club offers panoramic views of the scenic Carson Valley and Sierra Nevada Mountains. With up to 200 ft. elevation changes and 22 acres of stonewalled lakes, Sunridge Golf Club is a memorable course.
