Good Old Fashioned Fun at Cheeca Lodge

Cheeca Lodge playgroundCheeca Lodge in the Florida Keys is bringing back the days of fishing off a pier, exploring on nature hikes and forging long-lasting friendships at the new Camp Cheeca. With a brand new building, surrounded by lush landscaping, and a spacious Tiki hut, campers will be begging their parents to stay just a little bit longer.

The belief behind the program is that a sound camp experience begins with strong values and a caring commitment to the environment and those around us. The importance of good manners, sharing with others and cooperation is constantly being reinforced. Campers are empowered to make decisions about their daily activities and provided with options whenever possible. The Camp Cheeca counselors believe that campers will take ownership of their successes if they are given some choices to make along the way.

A typical day begins with a series of "icebreakers" and "getting to know you" activities to ensure positive group dynamics. Campers often start out with a craft project. From there, they may take part in activities such as fishing off the 525-foot pier (catch and release), swimming at the pool, searching for native wildlife in the lagoon, friendly games of volleyball or tennis, educational scavenger hunts and interactive group games. Camp Cheeca is a place where young people can challenge their comfort zone in an emotionally and physically safe environment and the counselors make every effort to ensure that the Camp Cheeca experience is positive and enriching. Camp Cheeca is offered to children ages 5-12. Camp hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and the cost is $40.00, which includes choice of lunch entrée.

In keeping with Camp Cheeca philosophies, the Kid's Night Out program provides campers the opportunity to enjoy an evening of relaxing fun, staffed by caring counselors. Nightfall gives campers the chance to stargaze on an evening hike, play traditional camp games, and perhaps share a tall tale or two. Campers enjoy a pizza party, followed by an age appropriate movie at the Camp Cheeca facility. Kid's Night Out is offered to children ages 5-12 on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The cost is $40.00 per child which includes the pizza dinner.

Cheeca Lodge is situated on 27 beautifully landscaped acres with more than 1200 feet of palm-fringed beach and crystal-clear water. It features 199 luxurious guest rooms and suites, three restaurants, a nine-hole pitch & putt golf course, a complete tennis program with six courts, two swimming pools and a whirlpool spa.
