New Mobile Movie Ticketing Service

If you're like the majority of Americans, your cell phone is used for more than just phone calls. 65% of all Americans use cell phones to send messages, check e-mail, and catch up on the news. Now, Sprint and Nextel have joined forces with Fandango to provide easy access to movie showtimes and tickets through text messaging.

Fandango's process is simple, and available to all mobile phone users (regardless of provider) with enabled web access. Either type in mobile.fandano.com into a wireless browser, or text message your zip code (movie title optional) to FNDGO (36346) to get links to movie theatre information in your area.

Other features include access to movie descriptions and reviews, theatre highlights, maps and directions, and ticket alerts for popular upcoming movies. Users will also have access to links to downloadable ringtones and wallpaper relating to the movie chosen. Frequent users may also be alerted of movie-related promotions through their personal mobile device.

Fandango's mobile ticketing program has recently received recognition from TopTenReviews.com. Honored with the "2006 Gold Award," Fandango was called the "top movie ticketing service," thanks to its "awesome features (which) can be accessed on your web browsing cell phone or PDA." Reviewers of the site remarked on the ability of users to order tickets at the beginning of their evening out, and having them waiting at the theatre when they arrived.

Though the program is accessible by all web browsing cell phones, Sprint is the only wireless provider to feature Fandango directly from their phones. This service is currently available on select Sprint phones, and will soon be added to phones from their partner, Nextel.
