Snowbirds Gather for the Nation’s Largest RV Rally
February 2008– Winter’s thaw is still months away, but when spring has finally sprung in mid March, RVers will be on the move, searching for places to land for the spring and summer travel season. Thousands of RV families, and “snowbirds” alike, will flock to Perry, Ga. to meet up at the nation’s largest recreation vehicle (RV) gathering, The Rally 2008, convening at Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, March 14-17.
More than nine million people in the U.S. now own RVs. For tens of thousands of RVers, The Rally is the event and vacation destination of the year. RV newbies and veterans alike will gather to celebrate and explore the wildly popular recreation lifestyle through seminars, exhibits, entertainment, games and meetings with industry experts from around the world.
The Rally is an annual event hosted by the Good Sam Club, with more than a million members nation-wide, along with Camping World President’s Club, Camp Club USA, Coast to Coast Resorts, Woodall's and Trailer Life and MotorHome magazines. All the organizations are either owned by or affiliated with Affinity, the nation’s largest provider of outdoor recreation clubs, media and events, headquartered in Ventura, Calif.
“Last year The Rally had the highest attendance on record for day pass sales and it continues to grow in popularity each year,” said Sue Bray, vice president and executive director of Good Sam Club. “The Rally truly offers something for everyone from youth programs through travel seminars to concerts and activities. For RV enthusiasts, it’s an event not to be missed.”
RVers will have the opportunity to view more than 1,000 of the latest RV models on exhibit, including multi-million dollar luxury motor coaches, equipped with the finest accessories and toys. Additionally, hundreds of RV products will be on display, together with the latest high-tech accessories, gadgets and gizmos to help RVers enjoy the great outdoors in style.
More than a mere exposition, guests will also have the opportunity to partake in informative RV seminars by industry experts to help them master and manage the RV lifestyle, discovering topics from ‘healthy cooking on the road’ to ‘RV troubleshooting techniques.’
Additionally, The Rally will showcase nightly entertainment, including Frankie Valli, member of The Four Seasons and successful solo artist, on March 14; Michael Andrew Big Band, a swing band covering big band hits from the 1940s, on March 15; 12-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs on March 16; Jaime Roberts, variety vocalist and former Walt Disney performer, on March 17; and The Vogues, an American quartet together since 1960, singing their original oldies favorites, on March 13.
This year’s event will also include an attempt to break the world record for "the most couples dancing” at Saturday night’s Prom Night in Perry, as well as a popular Rally Dog Show. The Rally also provides a complimentary youth activity program for children, ages 6 to 12, and an extensive program for teenagers, ages 13 to 17, where they will meet other youths from RVing families, play games and take excursions.
Day admission is $10.00 for adults, while kids 12 and under are free. RV sites start at $149.00 for two people. Reservations are underway and available by visiting www.therally.com.
