NASCAR and Thousand Trails Team Up to Enhance RV Fan Experience at RacesMarch 28, 2007 – Thousand Trails, one of the nation's largest private camping clubs, announced a marketing partnership with the Official NASCAR Members Club (ONMC). Through terms of the partnership, Thousand Trails will provide 15 of its properties to function as local ONMC Headquarter Campgrounds near NASCAR racing venues, and will also offer discounts to ONMC members and NASCAR fan RV owners. ONMC has agreed to promote Thousand Trails resorts as the official campgrounds for NASCAR fans, and the two organizations will join with select RV dealers to host special NASCAR themed events at properties during race weeks. "The rapid growth of NASCAR coupled with the sea of RVs that seem to surround every major racing event has led both organizations to investigate ways to better serve this market," said Jim Henderson, vice president of marketing for Thousand Trails. A recent Campfire Canvass survey conducted by the RVIA, the industry's trade association that produces the GoRVing campaign, ranked family RVing activities. "That research tells us that RVing at NASCAR events is ranked as the number two activity that families like to do in an RV," said Jim Brady, senior vice president of SVP Stoneacre Inc. and ONMC. "It was with that information in mind that we established this partnership in order to reward those loyal, avid race fans with programs and benefits that will enhance the NASCAR experience even more." The Campfire Canvass survey research reached RVers who also stay at RV parks and campgrounds and enjoy an array of camping trips that include "traditional" camping activities like cooking out, visiting state/national parks as well as NASCAR camping. Some of the promotions that will be offered include complimentary four day and three night camping getaways to ONMC members; Race Week Rallies featuring race ticket drawings, car displays and driver meet-and-greets; a "Race of a Lifetime" sweepstakes including four tickets, a pit pass and driver meet-and-greet at a NASCAR race of choice, hotel and airfare and a Thousand Trails National Membership ($10,000 value). The Official NASCAR Members Club was launched in 2005 during Daytona 500 Speedweek as a means of rewarding the 75 million NASCAR fans for their continuous loyalty and support. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, ONMC is the only member club licensed by NASCAR open to all race fans ages 13 and above, and works to bring together drivers, race teams, tracks and sponsors to offer race fans unprecedented access, information and special offers. Founded in 1969, Thousand Trails, LP is one of the largest and most successful private camping clubs in the country. Members enjoy more than 81 membership-based campgrounds, offering a variety of services and discounts to make the RVing experience as enjoyable as possible. The Frisco, Texas-based organization has over 130,000 member families. "RV owners have a significant impact on not only the race industry, but on the general economy as a whole," continued Henderson. "This partnership is our way of letting the race fans that own RVs know that we appreciate their loyalty year after year to both the RV lifestyle and to NASCAR."
