Hard Rock Café Nashville Hosts The “Greaseball Challenge” 2007March 28, 2007 – Rev up your engines and roll into Hard Rock Cafe Nashville on Sunday, April 1, 2007! Hard Rock will host the first-ever “Greaseball Challenge,” a cross-continental, biofuel car rally for charity, which aims to promote fuel alternatives. Guests will be able to meet participants of the “Greaseball Challenge,” who will travel more than 500 miles from Washington, D.C. to reach Nashville. The event will feature four “Greaseball” teams and their “Greaseball” vehicles, which have been converted to run on vegetable oil by Greasecar, a vegetable fuel conversion company. Later in the evening, drivers will then make their way to the “Greaseball” vehicles, to fill up with waste grease, including vegetable oil, courtesy of Hard Rock Cafe Nashville. Guests will also have the chance to see the drivers off as the teams head further south! Proceeds from the event will benefit projects supported by the “Greaseball Challenge,” which helps local entrepreneurs, community cooperatives and grassroots organizations in developing countries to access the capital expenditure and technical necessary to implement sustainable small-scale biofuel projects. The “Greaseball Challenge” 2007 will end in Costa Rica, stopping at the Hard Rock Cafes in Memphis and Mexico City along the way to reload on waste grease.
