Bob Dylan Returns to Cooperstown for an Intimate Night of Music

August 17, 2006 – On September 2, 2006, visitors to the quintessentially American village of Cooperstown, NY, will have the opportunity to experience Bob Dylan in concert in a remarkably intimate atmosphere. The Bob Dylan Show, which is part of Dylan’s third annual national concert tour of America’s minor league baseball parks, will be held under the stars at the historic Doubleday Field.

The concert tour, which the Nashville Scene reported feels more “like a backyard party than a rock concert”, will ideally complement the atmosphere of Cooperstown, where visitors go to discover America’s rich heritage in an unspoiled and unhurried setting. The concert will be held rain or shine and the town will provide $3 trolley transportation between parking lots and the concert site. Doors open at 5:30 P.M., the concert begins at 6:30 P.M. and ends at approximately 9:30 P.M. All tickets are priced at $49.50, children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult ticket holder. To purchase tickets, guests can call the concert phone line at 607-547-5211.

About Bob Dylan’s Band
Joining The Bob Dylan Show this summer will be two modern legends of the electric guitar- Texas-style. Guitar Player Magazine calls Jimmie Vaughan “a virtual deity … a living legend.” His younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan cited Jimmie as the biggest inspiration in his own career. As a founding member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmie sparked a rhythm-and-blues revival that continues unabated today. Veteran roadhouse singer Lou Ann Barton will be joining his band for this summer’s trek. Austin-based Junior Brown must be seen to be believed. He plays a demonic hybrid “guit-steel” instrument, a combination 6-string electric guitar and pedal steel guitar, a device he cooked up one night in a dream. It sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard. Throw in a vocal style reminiscent of Ernest Tubb and you have one of the most unique styles in American music. Opening up each night’s lineup of music will be Elana James, who fronted the country swing trio Hot Club of Cowtown and is now touring with her new band The Continental Two.

Where to Stay: Combining gracious hospitality, first-rate accommodations and fine dining, The Otesaga Resort Hotel, a 1909 Grand Dame resort on the southern tip ofLake Otsego, complements the village of Cooperstown perfectly. The hotel, which underwent a $34 million renovation, boasts the acclaimed Leatherstocking Golf Course on its premises and features a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, fine dining options and a rocker-lined, white-columned veranda offering stunning views of Lake Otsego.
