Barton Creek Resort & Spa Tennis Pros Create “Tennis for Life” 24-Hour MarathonSeptember 11, 2006 -- Tennis anyone? Starting Friday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m., the Tennis Pros at Barton Creek Resort & Spa will be teaching lessons for 24-consecutive hours to raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF). Local celebrities and long-time LAF supporters JB & Sandy from MIX 94.7 will broadcast their morning show live from the Barton Creek tennis courts. Barton Creek Director of Tennis, Israel Castillo, will be teaching lessons nonstop the entire 24 hours. Approximately 90% of the Resort’s Tennis professionals and Sportball instructors will donate their time as well, taking three-hour shifts during the event. Many Barton Creek Country Club members and cancer survivors have registered to participate in this fund raising event. “A group of eight women who regularly play here are going to set up camp between 11 p.m. and 5 p.m. said Castillo. “They want to support me and to see if I fall apart!” Interested participants can reserve a lesson with a pro by calling 512-329-4008. One hundred percent of every lesson will benefit the LAF. The suggested donation for a lesson is $75/private hour, $42/person semi-private, and $30/person for three or four players. Anyone wishing to make a donation online may do so at www.livestrong.org/grassroots/tennisforlife About the Lance Armstrong Foundation
