Siemens Unveils New hiDefinition Dishwasher

May 22, 2006--Siemens raises the bar on its hiDefinition dishwasher series with the introduction of its latest models. Equipped with additional specialty cycles and convenient features, the new models debut this June in Best Buy in the U.S. and Future Shop in Canada. The new Siemens hiDefinition line now combines new Auto Wash and xPress features with existing signature features to beautifully cleanse and sanitize everything from china and crystal, to stainless steel and stoneware. Whether heavily or lightly soiled, dishes get special treatment and emerge sparkling and 99.9% bacteria-free.

Auto Wash varies cycle time, water and energy usage and wash temperature, while xPress reduces wash cycle time by 30% for consumers who cannot resist pre-rinsing dishes. The new Sanitizer option may be used with any of the main wash cycles to yield dishes that are 99.9% bacteria-free. And hiDefinition dishwashers are always designed with ease, comfort and safety in mind.

"The hiDefinition dishwasher embodies the Siemens approach to home appliances, blending technology, innovation and style," said Michael Bohn, Director of Brand Marketing at Siemens. "It is perfect for consumers who value both functionality and aesthetics.

"Dishes are only as clean as the water used to wash them and the heat used to dry them," adds Bohn. During washing, the Siemens hiDefinition dishwasher uses its unique hydroSensor to measure water clarity and determine the necessity of an additional drain and fill cycle. In addition, it uses Tri-step filtration -- a system that filters all the water and prevents the redeposit of particles. Unlike drying systems that use unclean air drawn off the kitchen's rear wall, Siemens uses "clean" heat -- the residual heat from the 161 degree F sanitizing temperature of the wash water -- to dry the dishes to germ-free perfection.

The upgraded hiDefinition dishwashers offer a choice between visible and concealed controls and three colors - sleek white, black, and versatile stainless. Among other new features are ultra silent operation, a 19 hour delayStart feature, additional half-flip flipdown rows in the upper rack, new LED status light indicator and child-lock controls.

Siemens hiDefinition dishwashers range from $U.S. 599 to $999.
