Metal Slug Anthology ships for Wii

Dec 14, 2006 SNK PLAYMORE USA CORPORATION, the U.S. publishing arm of the SNK PLAYMORE CORPORATION, announced today that METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY for Wii is shipping to retailers across North America.

METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY celebrates the 10th anniversary of one of the greatest action arcade franchises of all time. Included in the collection are METAL SLUG, METAL SLUG 2, METAL SLUG X, METAL SLUG 3, METAL SLUG 4, METAL SLUG 5, and the latest entry in the series, METAL SLUG 6.

METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY for Wii takes full advantage of the console’s unique control mechanisms, offering six control modes ranging from a traditional arcade mode, which uses the Wii Remote as an old-school arcade joystick, to an innovative Nunchuk-only mode.

Benjamin Turner of Game Spy described METAL SLUG as “one of the premier side-scrolling action game series, rendered with luscious bitmapped sprites that make vicious war on the never-ending 2D plane,” and said “if you’ve ever played any of these games, the action on Wii will be just like you remember it.” In December 2006’s NewType USA, Kevin Gifford commented that “METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY is a reminder of everything that is right about arcade games.” METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY was also chosen as a Wii Staff Pick by Nintendo Power editors, and Nintendo Power writer Chris Hoffman said, “Wii provides a whole new way to experience one of the most intense series in arcade history.”
