April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Mercedes-Benz introduced several new models at the New York International Auto Show, open to the public April 14 - 23, 2006 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Making its global debut this morning at the show, the highly successful line of E-Class sedans and wagons has been restyled for 2007. With redesigned bumpers, grille, headlights and tail lights, the 2007 E-Class lineup sports a fresh look and features three all-new models. The V6-powered E350 is now joined by the E550, featuring a new-generation 32-valve 5.5-liter V8 delivering 382- horsepower, while the E63 AMG is powered by a new 6.3-liter naturally- aspirated V8. Mercedes-Benz continues its clean diesel offensive with the E320 BLUETEC, the cleanest diesel passenger car in its class. Other diesels making their debut include the R320 CDI sports tourer and ML320 CDI sport utility.
The 2007 SL roadster makes its North American debut with revised exterior styling and more powerful engines. A new-generation four-valve-per-cylinder 382 horsepower V8 powers the SL550 model (replacing the SL500), and the high- performance SL55 AMG now has 510 horsepower and 531 lb.-ft. of torque. The twin-turbo V12 powering the SL600 gets a similar horsepower bump - to 510 - and now also has 612 lb.-ft. of torque.
Three new AMG offerings span a number of model classes to herald the arrival of a new AMG family of high-performance cars powered by the first engine developed entirely by AMG, the high-performance arm of Mercedes-Benz. The 2007 E63 AMG sedan and the CLS63 AMG four-door coupe are powered by a newly developed 6.3-liter V8 engine that produces 507 horsepower and 465 lb.- ft. of torque. The 2007 CLK63 AMG Cabriolet features a 475 horsepower version of this new powerplant.
