House of Blues New Orleans celebrates the Jazz Festival
April 25, 2006 -- House of Blues New Orleans is proud to present its multifaceted performance schedule to coincide with the 2006 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The entertainment venue, located in the heart of the French Quarter, will feature an eclectic group of national acts, ranging from The Blind Boys of Alabama, Etta James and Martin Sexton to local legends like Galactic and The Subdudes.
The festivities begin with the very special Putumayo World Music Night on April 27, which will feature two rooms of international music, most notably The Skatalites, intermixed with New Orleans’ rising stars James and Troy Andrews. A notable addition to this year’s lineup is Piano Night on Monday May 1, benefiting WWOZ, New Orleans’ jazz and heritage radio station. Piano Night, a longstanding New Orleans tradition, brings together numerous players performing a variety of styles.
“We are very excited about the uniqueness and high quality of the artists’ pairings this year” states Sonny Schneidau, House of Blues New Orleans Talent Buyer, referring to the co-bill of acts like Keb’ Mo’ plus The Subdudes on April 29 and Dr. John plus Hugh Masekela on April 30. “In addition, our 2 AM late-night performances featuring North Mississippi Allstars, Greyboy Allstars, MOFRO, and Keller Williams are sure to keep people grooving until the sun comes up.”
Tickets are on sale now and available via www.hob.com, www.ticketmaster.com, and at the House of Blues Box Office at 225 Decatur St. For more information call (504) 310-4999. Dinner/Show packages are available.
