Gibson Adds Exclusive “Lick of the Week” to Its Online Guitar Lessons
October 30, 2006 --In a move that’s sure to delight guitarists of all skill levels and stylistic learnings, Gibson has added Lick of the Week to its ever-growing lesson program on Gibson.com. Designed to stimulate creativity, demystify the fretboard, and offer insights into technique and theory, Lick of the Week is a short-and-sweet phrase or progression that can be explored and absorbed over a cup of coffee.
The phrase is presented in both music notation and tab, and key points are described in the companion text. An audio clip lets guitarists hear the example performed at the suggested tempo.
The Lick of the Week series begins with “Contrary Motion Turnaround” and “Jump Blues.” In the next few weeks, visitors to Gibson’s lesson page will be able to explore “Crisscross Scales,” “Bump City,” and “Double-Dropped-D Madness.”
Through Lick of the Week, guitarists can investigate rock, blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, funk, and more, while sharpening their chops and expanding their musical vocabulary. Fingerpicking and flatpicking, slide, and open and altered tunings will all play a featured role in Gibson’s exclusive content. Best of all, this experience is available for free, 24/7.
