Toshiba Announces Latest Satellite A105 Notebooks
June 27, 2006 - Toshiba’s Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced its latest Satellite A105 notebook series models that offer consumers a variety of configuration options to fit any budget, including Toshiba’s first notebook with Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2005 operating system and Intel Core Duo Processor for under $1,000.
Starting at six pounds, each notebook in the Satellite A105 line-up comes standard with a 15.4-inch WXGA diagonal display with TruBrite™ technology that offers brilliant images for games or movies and easy viewing of spreadsheets and other productivity applications. The notebooks also feature high-capacity 5400 rpm hard drives for faster access to stored files, DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM memory for better performance of productivity applications and music, picture and video multimedia files, as well four USB 2.0 ports for connectivity of accessories and peripherals. In addition, all new Toshiba Satellite notebooks are RoHS-compatible, restricting the use of lead, mercury and certain other hazardous substances.
Value
With an estimated single unit price (ESUP) starting under $700, the highly affordable Satellite A105-S2141 value model offers an Intel® Celeron® M Processor 410 suited to handle everyday mobile computing. The product features a 80GB hard drive for ample storage, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM memory, integrated CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive for burning and listening to CDs and watching DVDs, and Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operating system.
Mainstream
The Satellite A105-S4074 mainstream model features the Intel Core Duo Processor T2050 and Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition for enhanced multimedia performance and management. The notebook also includes an 120GB hard drive, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM memory, a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 different formats, and Express Media Player which lets users instantly access DVDs or CDs with the push of a button without having to boot the operating system. The ESUP for the Satellite A105-S4074 is $999.
Multimedia
The Satellite A105-S4134 multimedia model offers the Intel Core Duo Processor T2400 and Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition with 2048 MB DDR2 SDRAM memory, 120GB hard drive, integrated DVD SuperMulti Drive and Express Media Player. Special features include an integrated microphone for recording, fingerprint reader for secure access management, a customizable Dual Mode touch pad that can provide one-tap short cuts to launch programs, and built-in harman/kardon® stereo speakers for multimedia enjoyment. The ESUP for the Satellite A105-S4134 is $1,349.
The latest Satellite A105 series line will be available from major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide in July. Several additional configurations of the Satellite A105 series will be available at select retailers. Select models and additional configurations of the Satellite A105 series are also available from ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com). Both select retailers and ToshibaDirect offer units in different-colored lids such as Peacock Blue, Sunlight Copper and Smart Indigo.
