Tool Brings Photos/Videos/Music From the PC to Cell Phones
September 2007 -- Originally just a tool for producing customized ringtones from your own desktop and transferring them to your phone, ToneThis has quickly evolved into a platform for delivering all sorts of content to your phone—and between phones. While still free, ToneThis now includes mobile sharing of user created content, video support, new editing tools, and free or premium content from third parties. ToneThis software allows cellphone owners to create, edit, and share their own ringtones, wallpapers, videos, and games. The ToneThis solution can also be used by web content providers who want to embed “send to phone” functionality onto their websites, or in their software. ToneThis has partnered with several online content providers to provide ToneThis users with access to a vast store of both free and premium third-party content.
Red Fish Media, a leading mobile content storefront enabler, will provide off-deck premium mobile games to ToneThis users. ToneThis fans can now purchase mobile games from the games tab within the ToneThis application. Chuck D’s Rapstation has partnered with ToneThis to mobilize their catalog of half a million independent artist tracks. Users may now click "Send to phone" on any Rapstation song. The song is automatically opened and made available for editing within ToneThis, so the user can then edit the song and send it to their phone as a ringtone. Lathan Hodge, President of Rapstation said, "I'm excited to have ringtones available for our users. We were able to integrate the free ToneThis SDK in less than four hours!"
ToneThis has also partnered with DeviantArt, to enable wallpaper delivery of over 25 million pieces of original artwork, and ToneThis users also have access now to such content providers as Greystripe, ArtistFirst and much more.
ToneThis users can now search for publicly licensed photos or video content on Flickr and Revver and then personalize and deliver the content as a mobile wallpaper or video. ToneThis has also enabled users to publish their own mobile content creations to Flickr and Revver.
ToneThis has also hit several new milestones. For example, ToneThis is now a download.com Top 5 application in the Most Popular section in the mobile category, with over ½ million users while in beta, who have successfully delivered over 5M pieces of mobile content.
And of course, users still get to choose, create, and edit their own ringtones. ToneThis will convert your MP3s to a compatible format, send the file to you in a message, and make it a snap to install the file on your phone. ToneThis also creates wallpaper images from photos and other images in your personal photo collection, using the same convert and upload concept to bypass carrier limitations.
