Terra Introduces Two New Ceiling Speakers

August 4, 2006 --Terra Division of CAMM, Inc. is introducing two new high performance ceiling speakers at CEDIA Expo in Denver. Known for their product’s bullet-proof weather resistance, Terra has incorporated the same kind of rugged construction in these exciting new models. The CA.65.2R (6.5-inch) and CA.80.2R (8-inch) two way models are designed to compliment Terra’s existing 5.25-inch product range.

Both speakers are essentially impervious to the elements, making them ideal choices for typically difficult locations like steam rooms, saunas, bathrooms, outdoor walls, pool houses and the like. Every component part has been designed to remain rust and corrosion free as evidenced by the company’s Limited Lifetime Warranty policy. And perhaps most unusual, Terra manufactures these products in their Maine factory, even going so far as to hand assemble their woofers in-house in order to ensure optimum performance and value.

Unique technical features include Terra’s ACAD Anodized Ceramic Aluminum Diaphragms which make for very light and responsive cones that are particularly stiff and weather resistant. Also featured is the company’s unusual Magnetic Fluid Centering System (MCFS) which eliminates the typical woofer spider and its associated limitations. The spider has been replaced with specially developed Magnetic Fluid that provides the centering forces required by the driver while delivering lower distortion and reduced dynamic restriction of the cone’s motion. Additionally, MCFS helps cool the driver’s voice coil thus enhancing its power handling while also dramatically reducing thermal compression.

Therefore their acoustic design has been accomplished by industry legend Vance Dickason, author of The Loudspeaker Cookbook and editor of Voice Coil Magazine.
